This is obviously a vitally important summer for Leverkusen. There's a feeling within the club that if they can hold on to their stars they can have a real go at Bayern next season. Schick and Wirtz aren't going anywhere, but others could. It may all come down to keeping Diaby.— Stefan Bienkowski (@SBienkowski) May 26, 2022 I'd say it's 50/50 depending on who wants him. They're in no rush to sell but they're far more pragmatic in regards to letting him leave this summer. If the price is right.— Stefan Bienkowski (@SBienkowski) May 26, 2022
First 80m, then 80-100m etc. soon probably 140m . Take it or spend your time in Ligue 1 time to move on.
Instead of spending 100 m on the tsuck just keep ceballos for one more year . it make sense and move on with other signings
I am a fan of Moussa Diaby. He was probably the best right winger in the Bundesliga this year. The problem is I don't think he will be cheap. Signed until 2025.
The black Di Maria Hes good but Doku is better, on top of being younger and cheaper Would be one hell of a signing though don't get me wrong.
Question, if we had Mourinho as coach - would it change whether Mbappe signed for us or not? Thoughts?
I'll always love Mourinho, but 0% on that one. The only coach that would have made a difference is Zidane and in hindsight it was probably very miniscule.
Why would Mbappay care about Mourinho? Is Mourinho an Emir willing to give him hundreds of millions of euros? Why are you even bringing that pesetero up in relation with this club?
My theory is having a coach with a stronger personality like Zidane or Mourinho might influence his willingness to jump ship. Ancelotti, while elite level, seems like a passive yes-man.
Nah, I think we broke all conventions and structures of our own and bent over backwards to make this ungrateful prick the center of our project at the most successful club in history. Him not coming was not for lack of us having done enough to convince him. It’s because the PSG management debased themselves by making him bigger than their already tiny institution, and they made the player obscenely rich.
Hit all the nails right on the head- 1) We gave him too much importance. 2) Their willingness to take it in the behind as long as they kept him [giving him all the power].
FWIW, Mbappe camp leaked in 2017 that he won't consider Utd because Mourinho's defensive style didn't appeal to him. The pesetero clan met with RM and Liverpool then before eventually accepting 2x wages from PSG. So no, Carlo Ancelotti who just took us to CL final wasn't a disadvantage for us. He just chose oil state money again.
Imagine when Saudi state gets CL football. Breaking | Newcastle United will make a formal offer to Bayer Leverkusen for Moussa Diaby in the coming days, according to L’Équipe. More follows.— Get French Football News (@GFFN) May 26, 2022
There will be limitations tho. Newcastle is really a small city. I mean, unless they pay 30% above City and PSG wages, it’s going to be hard to attract top talent to the Jordi shore.
I’ve mentioned M. Diaby here through out the season. He is a speedy winger who can assist and score. He has had his best season. I would love to have him here but he is out of our reach financially (we don’t over extend for his caliber of player). Still he’s a hard worker and would be good fit here. If times were more normal and the market was more normal we could think about getting him for a reasonable amount but this is not the case. We should stick with Rodrygo. They mean Monaco the football club being asked to pay tax, not Monaco the principality.
You're right. Same question though -- how does the Spanish treasury have any jurisdiction over a club located in another country? I'm guessing it's some sort of EU/UEFA thing.
I don't know man, Leon Bailley looked phenomenal for Leverkusen and now is a sub at Aston Villa. In the Bundesliga players get plenty of space and pacey players look better than they are. I wouldn't spend big money on a Bundesliga player that's not also lighting it up in Europe or with his NT.
It's not like it's Hull or something. You pay the wages and transfer fee, you're going to get the player. Hasn't the Mbappé saga taught you anything?
Gnabry is the 3rd Guy that got most created chances in Bundesliga this Season with 25 games played (started 16 came from bench 9)
