Hey, Bonnie! It's got a name AND two players! How about a Flash thread now!

And I agree with you, STT. But it's just the beginning.

Flash sounds like a 20's Comic book character. Please do better than that.

I wonder what "International" players the Flash will go after.
Any European players from Sweden, Germany, Norway, or England interested in coming over a a group together to play for the Flash?

those are two solid enough players. I'm guessing they'll make their bigger moves w/ free agency. With FCGP folding and the plethora of other free agents, that makes the most sense (to me, anyway)

nice find. thanks. Interesting that she'll be the TD and not coach. Also means she's out of the running for the Freedom head coaching job.

Great news, I was wondering where Emma might land. Lot's of other moving pieces out there on the coaching front. Actually, I'm wondering whether Nicci Wright and Erin McLeod show up for the Flash too.

I like the Flash name. Flash was a USL A-League team here. Western New York, while true, is rather long-winded. Would have prefered just FC Flash or Flash FC.

No, the goalkeeper is going to be Ashlyn Harris apparently. She is scheduled to be at the press conference for the name and logo unveiling tomorrow.

Press release also said Aaron Lines, head coach.

For those in the Western New York area, here is the press release from Ryan Connolly (my apologies for misspelling Aaran Lines' name earlier):

    MEDIA ALERT

I will put in a request for a new forum tomorrow, once the conference is held. It may still be a few days before one appears, but I am working on it.

BTW, I saw and said hi to Emma Hayes at the USWNT game at Toyota Park after the game Saturday. If I had read this a couple of days earlier, I would have congradulated her.

As much as we on the CRS thread questioned her tactics and coaching, she is still one of the most approachable people you will ever meet.
    And a hard worker.

I wonder how that situation is going to work out for her. She's the technical director, right? The head coach is the son-in-law of the owner and husband of the President (who was also a WLeague Flash player). It could all work well if everyone is professional about it. But if things go sour....

Shall I rightly assume that this thread will be moved into the shiny new WNY forum?

I like the new logo. It is close enough to the "old" Flash logo to maintain continuity but still tweaked to be shiny & new for the WPS. Two tiny criticisms: The shadowing in the yellow part of the shield & on the ball. Don't like it. And I prefer how the "l" does not connect with the "F" in the old version better than connecting in the new version. But those are picky things. In general it is a "win" for me.

Here's the old one for comparison.

Did the presser mention what the jerseys will look like? (yes, I know I'm a demanding sob).

I wondered, too. I wonder whether Mazda will be seen (although I somewhat doubt it. I reckon "Mazda" represents a Buffalo-area dealer or consortium, rather than Mazda itself. Charleston Battery was that way when they had "Saab" on their kits).
