I arrived home several minutes ago and turned on my TV which happened to already be on ABC affiliate Channel 7 here in Los Angeles. I had no idea the NFL game was being televised due to the fact that I don't follow football Americano.

I caught most of a new Budweiser commercial which was already in process . The theme was about being true to yourself. It started out with a pretty girl in an office taking copies of her face on the copy machine. The next frame switched to two soccer players battling for the ball in a soccer game. They switched back to the girl in the office then showed a soccer match TV party with a group of men and women watching or something to that effect. It ended with the statement about being true to yourself.

What suprised me was right after the commericial ended the NFL playoff resumed. It was the 1st quarter.

I think it is great that ABC and Budweiser are showing a soccer specific commercial during a NFL playoff game.

That's nice.. There has been a bit of a rise in soccer being used in commercials and not just the soccer mom theme.
I'll go drink a Bud now..

I too saw that commerical but at the movies.

The theatre...none other than Regal Cinema... which falls under Uncle Phil's investment umbrella.

It is my theatre of choice.

Mike, are you trying to be funny or just...well never mind?

I'd post more, but I think we're only allowed two "images" per post.

Actually, ESPN's current ad campaign seems to be, if not soccer-centric, relying pretty heavily on the sport. I've seen the Real-Barca commercial ("Figo is a traitor!" ;) ) on TV as well as in theaters, and also a billboard in Chicagoland that just has a soccer ball on a field and block lettering reading "Without sports, weekends would be weekdays."

    Brick by brick...

Perhaps evidence of a "World Cup bump" that MLS unfortunately does not seem to be directly benefiting from. If we can get some MLS references in soccer commercials at the same rate, say, the NBA gets mentioned in basketball-related commercials we'll be in business.

Moved to Business and Media with Monster's position. This really doesn't have much to do with MLS New and Analysis.

I just saw this particular on the Celtics-Mavs telecast earlier tonight. This one should catch on with at least some general but not yet soccer sports fans.

i think it was in spanish with english subtitles.
it was a good commercial.... but not as good as the old Nike Freestyle commercial. or of course the Nike soccer in Airport.. which may just be tied with Mike's Hard Lemonade "evil head" commercial as the best ever.

I like that Miller Lite commercial. I think it signifies the sport women's mud wrestling followed by lesbian make out sessions has finally captured the nation's attention.

Or at least I hope so!

This is an improvement from recent Miller commercials that had a dad voiceover saying, "It's okay if Billy breaks a window with a baseball but if he does it with a soccer ball then he is getting a whoopin!" Or something in that vain.

If you are going domestic, drink Bud!
