This is my first time posting here but I have been reading all of your posts for a while. I"m a huge Lady Vol fan and could not be more excited about the game against Ohio State this weekend. It is going to be one heck of a battle!! I have read a lot of you post about OSU and I know you have seen them play. I just wanted to see what you guys think? OSU is what 14-0 playing at home this season, thats pretty tough. They are on a major winning streak. But UT is known for being one of the fittest teams that will never give up and are pretty good at dealing with adversity. They also have an awesome coaching staff... Just interested to hear what any of you think! Thanks
I guess nobody is interested in this game.. Strange because its going to be a good one.. I was really hoping for a response by some of you knowledgable posters.. Anyone???? I hope its not because I'm a newbie :-(
UT's D is great and that will keep them in it. Dowling is a future national teamer(if given the chance). If they can finish their chances, they will probably win, but UT's problem the last month has been scoring. Should be a good game.
I know, OSU has no problem putting the ball in the back of the net. The thing with UT is that they usually run teams into the ground. They are extremely fit and get the scoring opportunities when the other team is run down. They have to get on the board right away if they want to win this one. OSU is not going to let down thats for sure. Keeley needs to get on the set pieces (corners and free kicks). She is so dangerous in the air. Also hoping to see more from Kayla Lockaby. I haven't seen OSU play but I"ve heard about this girl from Switzerland they have that was nominated for Soccerbuzz freshman of the year.. I guess we'll see what happens...
Well one of the things that OSU and UT have in common is their coaching pedigree. Both Lori Walker and Angela Kelly are former North Carolina alums. As far as fitness, both put a premium on that aspect of the game, so I don't think the Vols will "run them into the ground". I don't know how deep UT goes into their bench but OSU has gone consistently this year 15-16 deep without a dropoff in production offensively or defensively. I think what it will come down to is the play of the midfield, Lockabee and Christoph vs Dickenmann. Dickenmann is the table setter. She possesses great speed along with technical and tactical ability, not to mention always a threat to shoot and score. OSU posesses a balanced attack with forwards Lisa Grubb and Danielle Dietrich. Along with Dickenmann each has accounted for more than 30 pts. At this point of the season the Bucks may be a little fresher. I 've read about Keely for the last 4-5 years now, and know the Lady Vols have a very respectable defense. The Bucks are no slouches either with their own all american in Melissa Miller (5' 11") and 2004 Big Ten tourney defensive MVP Erica Nollen (86 consecutive starts). Playing at home where they are undefeated this year gives them an added "12th man" advantage too. It should be an exciting game, as these teams are evenly matched, but being the Buckeye homer that I am, I'm predicting victories this weekend over the Vols and MICHIGAN!!! LOL!!! GO BUCKS!!!!
Ohio State wins on a goal in the 80th minute 1-0. It was a hell of a game. I got out to see the OSU Men's team play on a regular basis and have to say I am disappointed I have not gone to see this womens team play more often. They are fun to watch. It really was a great back and forth game with lots of chances.
Fidlerre, you forgot one thing with your song at the bottom. Muck Fichigan!!!! WTG Bucks. Hopefully, I will be yelling a lot of Go Bucks at the College Cup. I really hope the Lady Bucks beat UCLA. K~
