Ok, I hate them. I did. They're so annoying.
But guess what, it hit me yesterday that I don't really mind them anymore. In fact, when I turn on the TV and hear the fly swarming sound, it hits me immediately, "oh yeah, a WC game is on!" and puts me in a mildly euphoric state.

Am I the only one to have warmed up to vuvuzelas?

yeah I don't care about them. Every WC will have their own flavour.

I don't mind them as long as they stop playing them during the national anthems.

Did you guys know that Youtube has made it possible to vuvuzela-fy any video? Just click the soccer ball link and you'll be transported to South Africa in an instant!

still sucks. can't hear all the songs during the games (except england for some strange reason). i want to hear the "dae-han-min-guk, clap x 5" and the "ohhhh-korea!" and the ode to joy songs. sadly, i haven't heard one song the entire tournament during the game.

I didn't mind them then, and don't mind them now. Of course this could've all changed if I was actually at the games, though :)

There was a faint "dae han min guk" clap x 5 in the Nigeria match. You could barely hear the drum part. Good effort but there were too many Nigerians in the crowd blowing their vuvuzelas.

When I am into the match I forget all about it so I don't really notice it anymore. So yeah pretty much drown them out. Though I really want to hear the chants and singing during the match.

I agree vuvuzelas do their part to drown out the fan cheers but honestly, there's just not enough red devil fans that made it down to SA. It's a sheer numbers thing. I had the fortune of making it to Germany to see the Swiss game 4 years ago (yeah we lost, got knocked out and it sucked) and about a fifth of the stadium were Koreans. That was enough of us to create a huge roar. But the fans in SA is like one of the friendlies we have out there in nowhere where you can barely hear the fans cheering. That said, I wonder how many Koreans would make it down to Brazil... it's also not the easiest destination to get to.

As for vuvuzelas... if you can't kill 'em, join 'em, right :)

There are plenty of Koreans living in South America; I'm sure many of them will be making the trip. And Brazil/South America certainly is a better tourist destination than South Africa. I can imagine many Koreans in the US making the trip too. I for one plan to be there in 2014 to cheer on LCY, KSY, PCY, SHJ, NTH and maybe even Baek Seung Ho. :D

Same, would be crazy if BS Korea had their own little section.

Then again we'd spend the whole game arguing with each other. :p

    Less Vuvu and more chanting/singing/clapping.

Exactly. To show some fucking respect.

edit: Great! Now youtube has a 'vuvuzela' button. Now I can sit and enjoy listening to the buzzing in a convenient, and safe environment.

You sort of get used to the noise, I guess.

Btw, for all that scare about the poor security and incredible crime rate, there hasn't really been any news of any visitors getting mugged or killed or disappearing since the Cup got under way, hasn't there?

Security is probably at maximum, and I'm pretty sure muggings/fights still occur.
Well, no more complaining about the Vuvuzelas. It seems they have won the battle.

All this talk about vuvus and I hear them for at least 4 hours per day on TV but until yesterday, I had not heard one live. I went to a local outdoor Mexican viewing (under a tent) to see the Mex-Arg match - yea, decided to pay the amigos a visit... it's a fun, energetic atmosphere just like the ROK viewings, and there were probably a 1000 ppl there. Anyway, this cute little 5-year old girl was playing on the vuvu.

    IT IS LOUD!!!!!

I couldn't believe the amount of decibals this chiquita was generating.

Now multiply that by 40000 crazy fans. Omg, ear-drum shattering vortex!

Okay, I been avoiding all football related websites after that loss, but I am now back to a semi normal state now. After my binge of beating up every homeless person I saw for a few days after the game, I feel much better now.

Oh and back on topic, yeah, I called my buddy up and he mentioned it briefly. Same thing as last time. Lots of guns and guns, security everywhere. Chances are if you walk 10 feet any direction, there will be security there. Very safe, if you don't mind being surrounded by guns on every side. There's a odd joke or contradiction in there somewhere, I think. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm..........
