All of those cashgrabs are holding back all of CONCACAF. Not just El Tri and the US, but all of CONCACAF. FFS, before Gold Cup was permanently installed in the US, even Trinidad & Tobago made the WC, and gave the Germans a decent fight. Having an annual CONCACAF tournament, always in the US, but with a different title does nothing to lift the quality of football in this part of the world. Every other confederation at least rotates hosting, so that the smaller nations and mid-major ones have to lift their games.

Agreed, all good points. While the rest of the world is making up ground vs euro teams, concacaf will fall behind more and more with each decade because of their greed and incompetence both at the club and national level
Without question. Having the same tournament at the same place every year creates a dependency among the smaller and mid-majors in CONCACAF. For the bigger nations in the region, always playing the same teams in the same places dulls the competitive rigor of having travel, play, and win in hostile environments. Yes, the cashgrabbing can make some Caribbean official rich, but it makes the football poorer. I'd much rather see El Tri or the USMNT have to struggle to play away from home, because that's how a program grows. I'd rather see continental tournaments be less common, and more special, by having them more infrequently. I'd rather see the smaller and mid-majors grow, much like a Belgium, Portugal, or Croatia have. Having these mid-majors host a tournament every once in awhile forces them to improve both on and off the pitch. Taken together, a rising tide could lift all boats in CONCACAF. Unfortunately, we have the opposite around these parts.
or we get our player to top champions league teams to play with the elite day in and day out. not much we can do about our confederation.
The only way that Mexico can improve, is to limit foreigner spots in the Mexican league. No more mediocre Ecuadorean, Colombia and Argentinean players. If they're bring players from there, they should be much better than the current crop.
I somewhat agree, but that has to be accompanied by more minutes for youngsters, and perhaps a cap on excision clauses, at least for Euro countries.

The goat I would've loved to see this team at the 2024 Copa America. Beat Jamaica by multiple goals, school Ecuador for the umpteenth time, and this squad would've comfortably defeated fvcking VENEZUELA. All that's left is to beat Canada in the qfs and it's an ez sf run. If we couldnt make it past the argies in the semis then Uruguay in the 3rd place match was beatable. Damn that would've been fire.
Wonder what would have been if Chepo had just let Vela crack the trans women, if Hugo wouldn’t have coached the Olympic team, if turco or Almada would have been given a chance. We put ourselves in the situations which make vasco the best, which isn’t saying a lot. He’s above average, but he shouldn’t have coached 3 of the world cups in my lifetime
Hugo should have definitely gotten the chance to finish his cycle. His senior team was great to watch, it sucks that he lost the gold cup to one of the once in a lifetime shot by the nads.
Canning Hugo was such a stupid move from the FMF. The senior squad was actually competitive and Hugo wasn’t afraid to call up young players to try out He’s not totally at fault for the Olympics qualifying fiasco. It’s not his fault bums like Esqueda, Santi Fernandez, Landin, etc. did not know how to score
