The reason they got momentum is because herrera made dumb ass changes though, didn’t take enough central midfielders etc
Seeing how herrera struggles to face teams like LA FC and remembering how he struggled vs Panama, it’s not looking pretty. Motivation can only take you so far
"Former Mexico coach Gerardo 'Tata' Martino said Liga MX clubs' transfer policy is preventing football from growing in the country.... According to Martino, Liga MX clubs prefer to transfer their young stars to rival clubs for lucrative reasons instead of trying to place them in European teams, where they could improve. [...] Martino said he struggled to understand how a player can be worth a certain amount of money yet not have any transfer value abroad. 'In Mexico something particular happens that there are internal sales from club to club of players that are worth eight or 10 million dollars and I can't imagine that in Argentina, where it doesn't happen but if it did, a player would be worth $10m internationally yet not have an international market.'" Apparently Tuca told Álvaro Morales on live air that it wasn’t going to be Piojo. Tuca didn’t know the call was being aired live on Fútbol Picante.
I don't know that this has any straightforward solution though. Clubs have a right to spend. Again the only thing I can think of is for the fed to subsidize a set number of moves abroad by contributing the difference in order to match the local offer, then leaving it completely up to the player where he wants to go.
The league would have to collapse more or less or the players just gotta stop resigning and get an agent who can get you a cheap move abroad
I hear that and agree on motivation taking you so far. I just feel like most of us act like we're some super power in futbol. At some point, we have to give credit to other teams in the region, as well as MLS. I'm not saying Herrera is the answer, but he's also not a terrible coach as he's being portrayed.
lol no mames! Same old recycled shit but for the national team? NO! This is a new cycle, we need someone else. You’re acting as if there are no other options out there.
Lol quite a leap there my friend. Like I said in my last post had you read it, I don't think he's the answer, but he's not as bad as everyone makes him out to be.
Personally, think Piojo is super limited as a coach beyond one of those “pónganle huevos” type guy but I think most everyone doesn’t want Piojo because after what’s supposed to be our most disastrous year in like 40+ years, you’d expect the federation would take a big swing and do some self-reflection. Piojo just isn’t really that tbh
I'm not necessarily in favor of Piojo, but I think he is not the wrong coach so I would be okay with him. I think we give far too much credit to coaches and tactics when at the level these guys are playing a coach is more of a people manager. I think far more important than picking the perfect coach, Mexico absolutely needs to makes sure they avoid the wrong coach. As we saw last WC we can have a coach that doesn't even take the best players available (something our relatively shallow player pool cannot afford to do). That is why I am far more hesitant about coaches that are considered tacticians. They tend to leave good players out because they don't fit a system and also tend to be far more rigid as to discipline.
Whoever the DT is, as long as they don’t call up any MLS players. That MLS style doesn’t fit in Mexican football
It's a bad sign because this is the way the selección has always run. Not as an independent entity but a money making juggernaut for the LigaMX owners.
I see them as the Mexican Chris Traeger and Ben Wyatt. Marquez doesn't have the coach history but he has the personality and ability as former captain to get players respect and attention. He will deal with man management and motivation. Garcia having worked with Maradona proved he is a solid tactics guy who can be in the assistant chair and handle trainings and all the little things that Rafa will struggle to grasp in such a short time.

Well that didn't happen. I'm just going to sit it out and wait for news. Some are claiming that Almada not being on the best of terms with Irarragorri (what an atrocious last name) leaves him out of the running. Who knows, it might be for the best. Great coach, but has no track record of being able to handle Kafka-level bureaucracy. Let one of those sell outs take the reins, if you can even call it that at this point.
I keep reading those rumors too, regarding Almada and Santos, and also that Cocca is leading the race but haven’t found any sources besides twisting Cocca’s words which basically said he had an interview.
