In over 20 years of watching Mexico, this is the worst era I’ve ever seen. the tata failure was predictable, but on top of that, we totally wasted a World Cup on old shit players. you got guys like vega who have all the talent in the world but would rather splash on Gucci and Supreme clothes, and others like HH who just head over to mls to do ******** all. The push to transcend Mexican football isn’t there and the 3 losses to the nads now makes a lot more sense 2026 will suck, not only because we aren’t doing the right things, but because even if we started we won’t have enough time. Even worse, 2024 copa America will just highlight this even before the next World Cup.
Lainez barely gets any minutes anywhere he goes. That probably says more about him than Tata. At some point maybe the player just isn't ready. Talent only gets you so far, you have to put in the work and force those decisions.
If it weren’t for a Chaka fk up We beat the nads on a lainez goal I agree he needs more mins but tata also sent him to the u20 with a terrible team instead of keeping him for the 2019 gold cup. One of Tata’s first dumb moves.
Yon De Luisa will stay until 2026 The shit show shall continue https://mexico.as.com/futbol/yon-de-luis-seguira-al-frente-de-la-fmf-n/?outputType=amp Amazing how that fool failed on so many levels and still gets to keep his job
To be devils' advocate, it takes more than 1 cycle to make changes when you've had no changes for decades. It's only been 4 yrs since he became head honcho. Give him 1 more cycle before you start demanding changes. This constant revolving door or head honchos, coaches etc. is part of the problem as well as wanting immediate results.
Too lazy to find it now but I read an interview with Fassi who said the head is basically a secretary, to facilitate smooth meetings/finances but that the major decisions are made by a few owners. He cited how Slim was going to invest a lot of money into the federation but they declined to remain with televisa because of Azcárraga. Who knows how this shit show is run, I’m shocked there still isn’t a coach lmao, no plan, no insight, just pure vibes
Sport Bild reporting the Germany men’s national team will provisionally spend the Sep/Oct international window across the Atlantic. Expectations are 2 test matches, 1 in the USA & the other in Mexico. Also this year, there are plans for a meeting with France & possibly Japan.— Derek Rae (@RaeComm) January 11, 2023
I just read that article on ESPNDeportes, not sure how "informed" it is. It also stated that the committee is looking at Mejia Baron, Vasco, Chepo, and other rethreads.....so sounds like they are just throwing up to see what sticks. It also says that who they hire they won't allow them to bring their own full assistants with them and they are looking to possibly bring in Lozano or Marquez to coach the U23 and be an assistant on the senior squad. I'm not against that last part. I've always been in favor of playing one system through the ranks. The talent pool is similiar within one country, so develop a system of play that starts at the youth squads and up through Senior so they perfect the style. Just like in the US in smaller cities where the HC for high school football and bball set the style/system of play and it's the same system they play in middle school and youth leagues so by time the kids are in HS they know the system

Hearing how he handled Vergara in person, I have serious doubts he has any interest in coaching Mexico.
