And we have tomremember that the COVID-break was gonna take time away from Tata to incorporate those kids so those two at least give him more veteran options besides Henry, Pulido and what's left of Chicharito..
Usually I don't like half-ass foreigners on the team. But when the alternative to Raul is those three guys and a young Lainez, then bring as many foreign forwards as you can. We got two years until the World Cup.
Lainez isn't competinb for that position though. He's more likely going against the likes of Pizarro, Antuna and Alvarado for the spots behind Chucky and Tecatito.
Julio Furch has been terrible in 2020. He scored 3 goals last season and has only scored 2 this season and missing a lot of chances. He has been inconsistent before and based on his 2020, he doesn't deserve a call up. Funes Mori hasn't had great number either but at least his last title was in December and he was key in it and not 2018.
Yeah no. Funes Mori is one thing but unless Furch gets back to his level, he's not a better option than Pulido. Chicharito is another case and he shouldn't be called up but at least he was a lot better than Furch so if he gets to that level (doubtful) he would be a better option. By the way I love that once again Mexicans have totally forgotten that Naturalizados are going to elevate Mexico's level. We used to call up naturalizados who were burning up the league and yet they never were as dominant or close with the Mexican NT outside of Sinha at times. I have my doubts that if the Leandros and Caballeros shined, the guy who is making Octavio Rivero look like a bigger threat, is going to change things.
The younger forwards are still far away from competing for a spot on the senior team though. Neither Gimenez nor Macías nor Vega are close. I think onboarding Funes Mori and Furch is more than warranted as we're one injury to Raúl away from precarity in the forward spot.
God your opinions are bad. Naturalizados haven’t elevated shit. Edgelord sport opinions are the worst.
I love the fact that people can judge a post in which I accidentally typed are in aren't, as if the rest of the post wasn't precisely that point (that they aren't). .
If we go with Funes we're doing the EXACT same thing as Guille. Average player at best on the back end of a career that will only serve to block someone who wants it more and has a higher ceiling.
Depends on what the team needs based on Martino's tactical expectations. Guille Franco only obstructed Javier Hernandez' path to a starting spot with Mexico in the minds of fans who didn't see the fact that Guille and Chicharo were completely different players. Funes Mori is not going to impede Macias from getting minutes with Mexico because Macias works best as a second forward in a two forward system, something we have not seen from Martino as of yet.
Yeah, if any, Aldo was meant to be the one blocking Javier Hernandez (and in his 2010 form start above washed up Franco, probably) but got injured. Aguirre wanted a delantero poste.
Sucks that Aldo got injured right before the WC Dude was in his prime and he surely would have been there over Guille
His 2009-2010 form was great, he was scoring in the league but more importantly, under Vuce he dominated the poste role that Vasco was looking for, he was definitely above Guille Franco, because well, Guishe's knees were already done at that point I'm glad Aldo at least had a chance in 2011's Gold Cup, and while I'd liked he went to the WC as a fan of his brother, I loved Chicha's WC

Supposedly these brothers have been looked by Mexico but were deemed not good enough at the moment. I still think they should keep getting looked at especially since they could improve and they have the EU passport.
There is something broken in Mexican football. How is it that young Mexican players have won U17 world cups or have made it to finals since 2005 but Mexico needs to search outside it’s borders for talent? I have lived all over the world and Mexico and it’s football is respected. I just don’t get it.
Mexico should do better but the U17 is a bad predictor for talent. It's not just Mexico. Otherwise Nigeria would be a powerhouse. People talk about the 2011 team but they should look at most of the players from the Uruguay team Mexico defeated in the final or the German team that was so scary in that World Cup.
