Funes Morí would be a good option to have but he’s 29

How long would it take for him to get naturalized?

Not long. It would be before the 2022 World Cup. I don’t think it’s necessary for him to be part of the group.

Speaking of Layun, if you haven't seen this I highly recommend the 20 mins.

Forgive my ignorance, but is Chicharito still in the mix? I guess I haven't been following his thread in the Mexicans Abroad section of BSMX.

He was called-up by Tata a few months before the pandemic and he still seems very popular among fans and the media.

I'm not sure if his age and club form will helping him moving forward, though. After moving to LA, he has been battling injuries and poor form (he just had his first start yesterday in quite some time). I could realistically see Funes Mori (if he does get called up) and/or Macias (if he regains his form/leaves Chivas) taking his spot before long.

Chicharito is done. Unless he starts killing it in the MLS, which itself isn’t anything to brag about, then I can see him getting called as a back up striker or super sub off the bench

But it seems like Chicharito is already in retirement. If anything once he does decide to hang up his cleats give him a final game with the NT and call it a day

After Jiménez the depth isn’t great. Vela’s retired from the NT, Cheech has looked bad with LA and Macías is struggling.

I could see us taking him just to add some options, kind of like we did with Franco.

Yup, I could even see Furch, if he recovers his past level, fighting for a backup spot with those guys.

Did Vela retire or does he stay wishy washy to the point of distraction still?

Not bad. Much better option than New Zealand.
