I usually don't make threads, but I thought this deserved its own thread.

How many of you are willing to pledge support for the next tecnico, no matter who it is, for the full cycle?

I am against Bielsa or La Volpe returning, and even hesitant about choosing Chepo. But I would be willing to support them, or anyone else for that matter, for the full cycle.

This means no name dropping the moment the NT starts looking poor, or if the NT crashes out of a tourney, just complete support for whomever is at the helm. Even if the NT reaches Meza or Sven like proportions of failure.

So, who will take BSMX's 4yr Cycle Pledge?

I will be keeping track of all those who pledge. I will also be keeping tabs on those who pledge only to break it by calling for the DT's head. Consider it a public record of those who are all talk.;)

    Pledge:

    Q.Q.

    Broken:

*Note: "Pledging" support does not mean all criticism is out the window. Any comments for or against the DT's decision would not count as "breaking" the pledge. It just means you will not call for his head at the first sign of trouble.(Ex: Chepo takes Zinha to WC2014....WTF!?)

Criticism is good, especially if it's constructive. But I'm game. Count me in.

"This means no name dropping the moment the NT starts looking poor, or if the NT crashes out of a tourney, just complete support for whomever is at the helm. Even if the NT reaches Meza or Sven like proportions of failure."

i don't think I can do so. Coaches need to have accountability. Had Meza not being sacked in 01, we would not have gone to the 02 cup. If we crash at the world cup then that's 4 more years wasted. A big problem that us and the FMF have is that we look at each 4 year process being mutually exclusive to subsequent processes. Look at France, their 4 year process in 06 was a success since they reached the final, but was it really a success setting a base upon which the 2010 process could be build upon?

This is what I will 100% support from a DT
Style of play- I will not care if we play with 8 defenders as long as we win
Convocatorias- I have long ago gotten rid of my home team's goggles so if I see players from Chivas or Pumas i will support them 100%

This is what I will not support from a DT
Losing- if too much losing is going on, a coach has to go period. There is not such thing as losing with dignity.
Being media puppets- The coach must choose his players and not the media.

With that said, I do agree that we cannot sack a coach after a certain point. To me a reasonable limit should be after 2011. we have both a Copa America and a Gold Cup that we can use to measure the success of our coach

lulz, I wanted to edit my OP but I can't anymore. Most sites let you edit your original post indefinitely.

srchmaster: I can't say your position is unreasonable. However, this is a pledge for support of the long-term benefit of giving a DT a full cycle(and potentially consecutive cycles). The pressure that mounts usually originates from the fans, which then the media exacerbates and uses it for their own ends. Any improvement must come not just from the FMF, but from a change in fans "instant results" expectations.

You say you're willing to support the DT so as long as he meets your conditionals. This a perfectly normal and fair response, but the problem is most fans will have their own set of conditionals. Not everyone will be satisfied with a "win at all cost" philosophy, people push for their own interest in every cycle. This is not to see who supports a particular individual or philosophy, but a support for the benefits of long-term planning and continuity.

    i'll support 100%

however, the criticisms will still be there if the team is playing poor and we are not getting the desirable results

in addition to questionable call ups, like Vasco calling up his buddy Conejo

Chinge su madre, Im in. Even tho I dont really agree that we shouldn't call for his head when we loose en el Azteca and are a game away from not making the WC. I think there are limits to what a coach has to accomplish and one of those is never loosing en el Azteca and the other is qualifying to the WC at least in 2nd place. I really dont want Chepo but if he's chosen I will support 100%

The good thing about this next WC in Brasil we will not get in a group with the host nation. Hopefully we can get a group like what Argentina had.

Count me out. I have no faith or hold any sense of respect towards the FMF and their decisions. They lack the sense or the urge that the fans want for a competitive team and they always end up making the wrong choices with coaches who end up getting sacked. When a federation is controlled by Televisa and TV Azteca it's only obvious that the media will perpetuate what's best for them and not the federation.

Viva Mexico y Viva el Tri, but before we become world champions we need to have drastic changes to our football system.
