Bundesliga club Kaiserslautern have protested to the German football association (DFB) after their exit from the German Cup on Tuesday, arguing the referee disallowed a penalty that would have given them victory. Kaiserslautern, bottom of the Bundesliga, went out in sudden-death penalties to Mainz after the match had ended 1-1 and the initial penalty shoot-out round finished 3-3.
