San Jose Earthquakes forward Brian Ching, who returned to play two weeks ago after missing five matches, will have surgery Thursday to repair a torn right hamstring muscle. Ching was injured in a reserve league match Sunday is expected to miss several weeks. He had an MRI on Tuesday that revealed the tear, then team doctors scheduled the surgery.
