Brooks starts in usual LCB role, Chandler on the bench.

First half draw 0-0, slightly to Wolfsburg on style points. Not too many chances either way, Wolfsburg had a crazy deflection beat the keeper but go off the wrong side of the post. Brooks not involved in the highlight reel, and his center back partner Lacroix picked up a tactical yellow.

Wolfsburg look terrible at the moment - nearly concede twice. Neither a Brooks mistake - second one he was the defender in a 2 v 1 and did as well as he could, but the Eintracht striker choked on a sitter.

Eintracht want a penalty call on Brooks tripping up Hinteregger on a free kick sent into the box for a header - VAR to determine whether he's guilty...

Brooks gets a yellow and the PK is called. There was contact, but it didn't look like much during live play, worse on replay. Dost makes the penalty, 1-0.

Looks like Brooks pushed him to the ground. Would have gotten away with it pre-VAR.

Brooks got undercut and took a really bad fall early in the game. He hobbled back on after lying in pain for quite awhile and then heading to the sidelines, but he still looks a little pained to me.

Weghorst penalty evens things up for Wolfsburg.

Weghorst makes it 2-1 - excellent through ball behind the defense, blind first touch finish just inside the far post. Huge goal for Brooks, too, since Wolfsburg will feel they deserve this game.

    Weghorst!2-1 in the 87th.

If there’s a Wolfsburg game on the tube, I’m watching it. They are are also filled with late drama and excitement. Always. Never fails.

Wolfsburg do a funny thing on free kicks from midfield, where they try to have Brooks pick out a 40-50 yard pass. He can hit that ball - but it's almost impossible for the defense to be surprised or for anyone to be open on those. From the run of play, maybe.

Full time comeback win. Brooks owes Weghorst a bier. Brooks still moving gingerly, Chandler DNP.

Jeez, that was a bad look for Brooks on the Akanji goal. He didn't move at all. He just sort of hopped slightly forward and flinched as the ball went just over his bald dome. Really passive defending on that, and I don't give a rat's a$$ if it was a zonal marking play. You are a central defender, and there is a ball served into the space just in front of you in the air, and you are 6'4". That might be one you should make an effort on.

Our man anchoring the defense today. Currently winning easily 2-0 against Mainz in the 81st.

Up 0-1 on Bayer at HT. Brooks has been solid.
