So, Germany comes off a 4-1 loss to Brazil. Will they be able to rebound in order to grab a medal?

And surprise semifinalists Japan will be joining them, after their 4-2 loss to the US.

I don't imagine anyone's giving Japan too much of a chance, but if the Germany that played against Nigeria and North Korea is the team that shows up, Japan could do it. It would be so nice for Japan to come away from this with a medal as a reward for their good and entertaining play so far.

Well, looks like Neid is still in a strop with someone...

Today's German squad: Angerer - Stegemann, Krahn, Hingst, Peter - Lingor, Laudehr - Garefrekes, Prinz, Behringer - Smisek.

So although there was talk of Angerer being injured, she starts against Japan.

You know who, apart from Pohlers, is sadly missing?

Now that I think about it, it's a bit strange that none of the German fans have been bleating about wanting to "Do it for Petra". ;):D

(Although I do understand the lack of wanting to "do it with...")

Japan could totally win this. Unless Prinz got REALLY mad and wants to "vent" after the Brazil game ....

Pohlers made a big difference when she came in.

Apparently another not convincing performance (especially before the interval) ... but hey, there was a cool girl to make the difference! :)

I think, she is singing "Die einen schwören Stein auf Stein auf die Elf vom Niederrhein.Borussia Mönchengladbach, ja du bist ein scheiss Verein".

She got injured in a Frankfurt training session in mid-June and needed surgery. :(
