What a cool guy. He really should get more press and praise from us "fanatics." I think its one of the few things we can all agree on, Dave Johnson is a great announcer and more importantly (in the media) a great fan.

I wish they would bring back that show he did with John Harkes. I also wonder if he might lurk around these parts? If you're reading this Dave, great job dude, keep up the good work. :)

Dave has both a great passion and understanding of the game. His broadcasts are a pleasure to watch.......good stuff Dave.

I've run into Dave a couple of times. He's a true class guy, and probably one of the best local sports guys in the country.

And how nice of him to give Barnet some press here in the states, who knew they had a sloped field?

That was a good read- I had no idea he had been a soccer fan long before the DCU gig came along.

Dave always has a smile on his face whenever I see him (which is at soccer events). It was good to see Dave at Summers during the 2002 World Cup (although his source for quotes was questionable  )!

Who else could get away with: "It's in the net, it's in the net! Oh! It's in the net!" :D

Dave does a great job on the United broadcasts. Now, if he could only learn how to pronounce "Nelson" correctly.

I love Dave Johnson. Now if they bring back Gordon Bradley all will be right with the world.

(I'm kidding. Rongen does a really good job.)

I was also at the NY Cosmos game where we were hosed. IIRC, the AR who made the bad call was hit by a bottle (or something) thrown from the crowd. I can't remember if that was a play-off game or not, but there was 53,000 (+/-) at that game.

DJ always has something to say about DC United on WTOP, gameday or not. On Thursday, while in rush-hour traffic, I heard different snippets of interviews with Ben Olsen & Peter Nowak. Keep up the good work Dave.

I love having Dave Johnson as the voice of DC United. His "in the net" call has given the DC games on Comcast/HTS some personality. He's a relatively young guy so I hope he stays in the soccer business for years to come.

    Thanks Dave!

I think that came from being around Gordon "Jaime Marino" Bradley.

    :D

Dave is fantastic, we're lucky to have him here.

Like the rest of us, Dave is part of the team's 12th Man Club. Nice to see him get some positive press.

You've got to love a guy who's still pissed about an offsides call 24 years later!

Dave is fantastic, we're truly lucky to have such a great local sportscaster. 40 is not old for a sportscaster, so hopefully he'll be around a lot longer to call D.C. games.

A great guy, and a great soccer announcer. The fact that our own Dave Johnson is the narrator on "Our Way", the story of the US National team in WC 2002, is another reason that tape is a very prized possession.

Dave Johnson is the friggin' man. Luis and I stopped and talked to him after a loss last season, and he was just as pissed as we were. It's nice to have someone who's a real fan calling games, and doesn't feel the need to be diplomatic outside the booth.
