I was wondering if there were any British players who played in the MLS? Also would player in the MLS cut it in the English Premiership? Just asked that question as the team I support are getting promoted to that league and could do with a few quality players.

Also remember this one thing. Norwich are the pride of East Anglia and Ipswich Town are scum.

You might want to start watching this season's EPL games, Captain Timewarp.

    Tim Howard anyone?

    Tim Howard - Man Utd
    Brian McBride - Fulham
    Carlos Bocanegra - Fulham
    Claudio Reyna - Man City
    Kasey Keller - Spurs
    Brad Freidel - Blackburn Rovers

There's one more that I always forget, I'm sure someone will catch it for me, no? There were also more in the works this past tranfer window that didn't go through due to FIFA regs or work permits.

Check the "Yanks Abroad" board for more info.

    Brits in MLS? Not sure...anyone?

No one on DC United. However, watch for Bobby Convey to be there by the end of the summer.

    Dallas:
Ronnie O'brien: Ireland (not really a Brit but from your neighborhood ;-) )

    KC:
    Stephen Armstrong (born in England)

Brits in MLS from yesteryear include Mo Johnston (KC), Richard Gough (SJ) and of course Brad Friedel (Columbus ).

OK, I'm just kidding about Brad. He may not sound like it but he IS one of ours. Really.

You expect us to know of Brits in MLS when you don't follow the EPL enough to know any Americans playing?

    Anyway, welcome to BigSoccer.

There's a fair number of ex-Premiership players in MLS.

    Ronnie Ekelund
    Preki
    Jovan Kirovski
    Darryl Powell
    John Spencer
    Jaime Moreno
    Cobi Jones
    Joe-Max Moore

As for MLSers who've successfully crossed over to the EPL,

    Brian McBride
    Carlos Bocanegra
    Brad Freidel
    Tim Howard
    Shaun Bartlett
    Stern John

That's as many as I can currently name.

Don't forget about Paul Rideout or Steve Morrow. There's probably more, but I'm too lazy to look for them.

In terms of EPL caliber players, there are some, but you won't get any of them really cheap unless their contract is running out. Landon Donovan is the obvious one, but he's here on loan from Bayer Leverkusen. He nearly went to Portsmouth on loan in January, but silly FIFA laws made the deal unreasonable. DaMarcus Beasley is lightning quick, but his size would be an issue. Bobby Convey was on his way to Tottenham last summer, but the Home Office wouldn't give him a work permit. It is rumored that top French clubs are interested in his services. Carlos Ruiz could be very effective or could be a total flop. Can't really name any defender that is ready since Bocanegra went to Fulham.

    To round out the list:

    Danny Jackson
    Richard Sharpe
    Mark Williams
    Chris Woods
    Jamie Clark (Scotland)
    Paul Keegan (Ireland)

have all played in MLS, but are gone now. Williams played last year, and was terrible.

He's asking about both Brits in MLS and wondering if MLSers are good enough for the Premiership.

To be fair, Reyna never played in MLS.

Also Mark Williams, who was an absolute lemon.

Now he's playing for Milton Keynesbledon. I'm pretty sure he sucks there too.

    Ignorant inbred Budgie filth.

The season isn't over yet....8 years and counting that Town have finished the season above the Green and Yellow (GAY) bunch from the north.

Yes, Delia Smiths XI could use a lot of players even after the recent run of jammy results.

    We'll see on the 7th.
