Well - there's plenty of blame to go around where imperialism's concerned. The undoing of an empire is never pretty.

BTW - I enjoy a good novel about early 20th century imperialism or political stuff (e.g., Orwell's "Burmese Days") - any BS recommendations out there?

Jack Straw is a muppet, he is literally a muppet. He's still bitter that Kermit is more popular than he is.

 

wonder who is hated more on Gibraltor, Jack Straw or the Spanish.

 

The obvious one is "Heart of Darkness" by Conrad. There are nations worse than the English. Much worse.

 

It's only cause the Britain stopped ruling the world that all these problems happened.

 

Anthony Burgess's "Malayan Trilogy" is good if you're into British black humor.

 

I admit, I've always like Snuffleupagus better than Straw....
