Cue Keller4President arguing that Jurgen Klinsmann needs to act now if we want to secure the services of a 21 year old Regionalliga player.

Because he really is in Germany's plans

Not if he'd threaten one of the roster spots earmarked for the Hoyos brothers.

You laugh now, but I'd rather be safe than sorry...you never know when a player will break out. If Green and Boyd are good enough, and everyone is projecting Gyau to be good enough, why not Fabian? All got their start in the regionalliga.

Ideally all three would be on the squad, plus Freddy Adu. ;)

Root for him to play himself into contention for the Olympic roster, which would require a one-time switch and then you could rest easy.

Transfermakt tells us Fabian Hürzeler joined 1860 II today. Does somebody know the reason behind this? I see he has a Munich background with Helios Daglfing and FC Bauern. Good luck!

    thread title?

From what Ive read in various German forums he must be a very talented guy who unfortunately still hasnt made it with 21. Most people say he definately is a candadate to play 1st team in the midterm.

No land for old Amis: Fabian Hürzeler at 1860 München

forgive me, i guess all the numbers in german club names confuse me- is he on loan with 1860 munich that bobby wood plays for, or their academy/second team? if bundisliga youth teams play in the third division that would put him in like the ninth?
keeping tabs on him is as fruitless as lletget...

    1st team ------------ TSV 1860 München----------- Bobby ---- 2nd Bundesliga (2nd division)
    2nd team/reserve- TSV 1860 München II-------- Fabian ---- Regionalliga Bayern (4th division)

Youth teams-------- TSV 1860 München U19 etc... ------------ own league system with youth Bundesliga etc

No loan. 1860 II is leading the table ahead of Bayern II and others. Bobby played in 1860s youth and reserve teams before he made the step up to the forist team(Profis).

Fabian Hürzeler, central midfielder (1860 Munich II)
    Nationality: German-American
Status: Germany youth international, last played when making his U-19 debut in November 2011; would have to file a one-time switch to play for the US.
What's his game? Hürzeler has a wide variety of tools, allowing him to take just about any role in midfield. Still, he is best and prefers running the tempo with plenty of touches in a two-way game.
Is Jurgen recruiting him? Probably not at the moment, but if Hürzeler breaks into a Lions first team stumbling out of the gate this season and starts killing it in the 2.Bundesliga, start watching the sky for Klinsmann's Nat-signal.

Apparantly Fabian got injured in his very first training. Explanation for why he hasnt played so far. The reserve is doing well at the moment so it'll already be difficult to play his way back into the reserves before he can even think about the first team.

The chances for a first team start are comparably small cause 1860 currently has 29 first team players on the payroll and with strictly playing a 4-3-3 there's only three midfield positions(two of which are held by former Barca B players and the third is held by either Yannick Stark or 18 yo "talent of the century" Julian Weigl).

EDIT: and I still dont get it why you'd consider the German-Americans "exports"....

It appears Fabian's back from injury cause he made the bench in last weekend's game vs Memmingen. for those who want keep track of him I recommend http://ama-lion.com. The guy running the page often does a ticker of the games, statistics, reports etc, in German. But google translate should help.

Played 45 minutes in a 0:2 to Augsburg II. Several key players trained with the first team due to the international break. Didnt play great and made some mistakes but nobody expected him to do wonders anyway in his first game.
