We could trade them Marc Burch & Joseph Ngwenya. That would make me happy.

If he comes at a reasonable price, why not? He gives us a natural left-footed winger who can also play left back. He's had some very good years since he left DC and some not so good ones. But he has the talent (remember the playoff match against NY last year?)

Too many DC fans remember him only for his big miss and for his jumping jack routine calling for the ball from Marco Etcheverry. But no one bothered to tell him that MAE only passed to someone named Moreno, so Bobby, alone and underappreciated, languished alone at left wing.

He also has EPL/Colaship experience with Redding and could probably learn and thing or two from DeRo.

I guess Marco must have hated Convey's guts then because he seemed to spray it around to everyone else that was on the field when Convey wasn't playing.

Forget the past. All of that was when Bobby was a boy - he is 28 now and an easy upgrade for Burch. He could pinch inside midfield as well and let DeRo roam a bit higher.

As for all player acquisitions we need to ask if he makes the team better and is an upgrade to the current position then we should get him - works for Convey. I'm sure SJ is willing to trade as they would get something for him.

Convey doesn't want to play LB (part of the reason why he missed playing since August), it's written in the article. And he's currently making 336K - it would have to be a hell of a pay cut to come here.

    2011 21 games 1 Goal 1 Assist
    2010 28 games 1 Goal 10 Assists
    2009 26 games 1 Goal 2 Assists

I don't know him from the old days. I know him from today and no thank you.

Convey has already stated that he doesn't want to play LB. His only other position is LM, but I'm pretty comfortable with Pontius there. Not sure what good it does to bring in a player for a position that he doesn't want or that there isn't a need for.

Now, if Convey could be convinced to play at LB (and be happy with playing there), I wouldn't be terribly opposed to it. However, Convey would have to take a serious pay cut, as $300K+ for a LB is outrageous. The fact that Convey is also out of contract could make that task easier, although he could opt to try Europe again. I think his personal matters will override that, though.

I'd put him in the center of midfield behind DeRo and in front of (not side by side) with Kitchen. He has great field vision and distribution skills. We have DeRo and nothing.

So where does Boskovic play next year if you do that?

add me to the chorus of "he doesn't want to play left back" which is the only position I see open for Convey on our squad. Would you drop Pontius or Najar to put him on the wing?

He hasn't played in the middle since he was with the U20's

and if he's a backup he costs about three times what Quaranta costs

Pontius doesn't like to go all the way out wide. I see a natural overlap between Pontius and Convey as Convey is the type of player that learned the wide game in the EPL/Colaship and can serve a pinpoint ball in from the corner flag if necessary.

Just think what he could do if he could see out of both eyes.

You have to go back to Gallardo and Guppy to find a left midfielder who could cross the ball with his left foot while on the run. Convey does this very well. Pontius and Quaranta occasionally use their left (weak) feet, but much prefer to stop the ball and either cross it with the right foot or come into the middle of the pitch.

And yes, a Convey who wasn't blind in one eye would be trememdous.

Inconsistent, injury prone primadonna. No thank you. But that's okay, everybody's up for discussion, that's the idea and I hope that's what the FO is doing now and in the foreseeable future.
