The Colorado and Salt Lake City fans are discussin getting our own version of the Brimstone Cup started. I would love to talk to some of the people who handled both getting the original competition organized, and those involved now (If they aren't the same people). Any advice or help you could give us would be great.

My suggestion: Don't. At least not yet.

Dallas fans and Chicago fans didn't wake up one morning and decide that we'd be rivals. The rivalry grew out of stuff that happened on the field and got both sets of fans to care more about those games than other ones, as did the players. The rivalry was there a couple of years before the Brimstone Cup got started. The Brimstone Cup was just an extension of a rivalry which already existed.

You and the Stormin' Mormons have yet to play a game. For all you know, you might not get anything hot-and-heavy going with them. They might just be slightly more interesting games on the schedule. So if you go out and buy a trophy now, it might end up being sort of like the Atlantic Cup -- kind of artificial and goofy. It's one thing if it's a team's money wasted on that artificial goofiness, but it would be a shame to waste yours.

That's probably not what you wanted to know, but it's probably more helpful than what you did want to know.
