The simple truth is, this has never been about the fans in general, at least not here in chicago. It's always been about a certain someone feeling cool by handing a trophy out.

The whole point about such a trophy SHOULD be to add sparkle to the regular season contests. We SHOULD know the day schedules are released on what day, and what pitch, the trophy will be decided. We shouldn't need such a trophy to gloss the accomplishment of defeating a rival in the open cup or MLS playoffs. The current method of determination is just plain silly, and only the egos of those who made the rules in the first place stand in the way of rectifying the situation.

On this end, anyway, hardly anyone in the club knows or cares how or when the trophy is awarded anymore, and since none of us were asked for input in the first place (and many were actively discouraged from participating) I'm not gonna hold my breath waiting for them to listen to us now.

Let's 'open the doors' and try to take a fresh perspective on the great rivalry between the Fire and the Burn.

We all know that there are plenty of supportive fans from both teams who have passionately participated in this rivalry. Even though 'not everyone' gets to come to BigSoccer.com and express their FANaticism for this rivalry, we all have friends who enjoy it with a BURNing FIRE.

Let's do our part to help build MLS into what it 'should be' by helping spur rivalries like ours. Let's decide if we want to take a regular season, head-to-head outcome; or let the 'completed season' dictate 'bragging rights'.

IF ALL MLS FANS SUPPORTED RIVALRIES AND GOT THE SUPPORT OF THE LOCAL MEDIA, AS WELL AS MLS MANAGEMENT - IT COULD SERVE AS A TREMENDOUS MARKETING TOOL IN BUILDING THE GAME WE LOVE IN THE U.S.

The fans that've read my posts on this matter know my position. Please take the time to read ALL opinions on this matter and decide how YOU want to approach this.

If you feel like the Inferno and Barnburners leadership have already decided the matter, then please make an effort to take a new, fresh look at the situation and 'put your two cents worth' in anyway.
