Birmingham City v. Liverpool 2/23/03 [R] Liverpool make the journey to St Andrews for another crucial Premiership game the Reds must win to keep up that chase for a fourth placed finish, that would mean qualification for the Champions League. Birmingham are fighting for their lives and are five points clear of the relegation zone. However, Steve Bruce's side have lost their last three home games and been outplayed by Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea. Liverpool are without the suspended El-Hadji Diouf for the trip to St Andrews. http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/match/season/next/ Gerrard is also suspended; and Henchoz is very questionable. My guess: [Edited] ………………..Dudek Carragher—Traore—Hyppia—Riise ..Murphy--Diao—Hamann—Cheyrou ………….Owen—Heskey Arpexhad Mellor Baros Biscan Babbel ----
Yes. Ouch. And add Mellor to the squad, I guess. And I'd like to correct the typo in the thread title as well. But I can't seem to figure out how . . . TGIF. ----
Babbel was on the bench in France and could also be an option. Then again GH chose not to bring him in when Henchoz was injured. So Traore more likely if Henchoz is unfit.
Pre-match comments from GH (excerpts): "I hope the victory in Auxerre can act as a springboard for the rest of the season. We are aware we cannot afford to lose any more league games to reach the Champions League. "We can't lose another game but we have done that in the past two seasons where we have gone on great runs at the end so we have the knowledge of how to do it. "We won nine out of our last 10 games last season and had a similar record the year before. And now we cannot any more slip-ups. . . . "Robbie savage has dominated the midfield..." Steve Hunter Pretty much says it all. Charlton Athletic are above us in the table. Unfreakinbelievable. @%&!
Full time Birmingham City 2:1 Liverpool Clemence 33', Morrison 67'; Owen 76' Maybe our worst match in the Prem this year. ----
what was Gerrard suspeneded for? still that tackle against Everton? I thought he served that? I didnt see the match and I dont know what happened but that result is embarissing. What went wrong? There goes the CL and maybe Houllier should quit before we get relegated. from angry and sad liverpool fan
That was a three match suspension. I think the FA was trying to make an example out of him or something.
Re: Re: Brimingham City v. Liverpool 2/23/03 [R] No, it was deserved. This was the final match of the suspension. The issue with the FA was that they gave GH the option of starting the suspension at a later time, which would've allowed him to play against Australia, but miss the WC final. As for the game, I don't want to talk about it.
