I missed a good portion of the first half. If I'm reading this correctly, they had more possession but couldn't advance into our third very much. Is that right?
That's what somebody's stat above seemed to indicate. But in the first 10-15 mins it was all us. Shots were like 5(2)-1(0) in our favor, and I think we owned the possession at that point too. Then things changed, we sat off more, and let them "catch up". But proof is in the pudding, there's only one stat that ultimately matters, yada yada. The only concerning thing right now is that we have 3 players on yellows (Big Gabi, Partey, Saka). If we still have a 3 goal cushion at 70-75' I'd vote for taking at least 2 of those players off.
Which proves that my brain and Mikel's brain are not joined up much. Thank god for that? These subs seem like an original rotation plan. And clearly yellow cards is not his primary concern. Hopefully, just like the tactics that got us to 3-0 today, his decision to leave those 3 booked players on will prove correct.
We totally lose focus, get sloppy as a drunken barroom for 10 minutes, then BOOM. Tell me who's going to stop this side. Wow.
Oops there we go again, our CB's giving up a goal again. And there goes our closing in on Citeh's GD. 2-goal cushion still. Don't fvck this up boys.
Saliba's not the same Saliba from before WC break. He's still a big net positive, but showing more mistakes. I'm confident he'll work those out again.
Suddenly defense has become optional. Come on, Arsenal. Stay sharp, hold the ball for a spell and kill Brighton's momentum..
I think its going to be a net positive for us to continue winning while still showing signs of things we need to improve on. It will keep the players hungry, vs. fat and happy. Can't lose focus now with 3 extremely important fixtures coming up vs. Newcastle, at Spurs and vs. United.
