I miss the old hide behind the couch emoji The one saving grace of this game? Darwin should be back ready to start.
Once again the FA Cup is scheduled in a way where we have no choice but to play our best eleven. We can’t have Mo Salah just sitting around for two weeks waiting for the best league game.
This is also an opportunity to try something different. There is plenty of time on the training pitch and an FA Cup game that can be used as a trial run.
This is a crucial two weeks for Klopp and his team. It is perhaps the last chance to find solutions and salvage this season. Our next 3 league games are @ Wolves, Everton, and @ Newcastle. Win all three of those and the top 4 race all of a sudden looks very different. After Newcastle… Real Madrid.
From Klopp’s press conference, he is not speaking about this game in the context of winning the FA Cup. He is looking at it as an opportunity to play good football and try to get a winning run together. He also said that with the busy calendar he does not believe that the FA Cup should get its own weekend. I get the feeling that it this game feel differently in the calendar, Klopp would be happy to blow it off and play a team full of kids. With no midweek games before or after it, we have no choice but to play our best team and try to play our way into some form.
fingers and toes crossed .... Moises Caicedo didn’t turn up for training today — he wants leave immediately. Caicedo could also miss tomorrow’s game. edit: Moises Caicedo will not attend Brighton training at 11am, nor play v Liverpool tomorrow. #BHAFC have told 21yo Ecuador midfielder to stay away until Feb 1 when transfer window closes + expect him to be part of squad for 2nd half of season @TheAthleticFC
I won’t be watching espn+ but it’ll be an interesting game. We didn’t play our best against the Chavs but we had some bright moments from the team even if our goal scorers ‘didn’t’. Score that is. We did force a draw against several hundred million $ of players. We don’t need another draw so we’d better just go out and win.
Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Gomez, Robertson, Bajcetic, Thiago, Keita, Elliott, Salah, Gakpo. Subs: Kelleher, Fabinho, Milner, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Tsimikas, Nunez, Matip. Nunez on the damn bench ....
no Caicedo .... Brighton XI: Steele; Lamptey, Dunk, Webster, Estupinan; March, Gross, Mac Allister, Mitoma; Ferguson, Welbeck. Subs: Sanchez, Sarmiento, Enciso, Undav, Gilmour, Van Hecke, Veltman, Moran, Hinshelwood
