Go F yourself seriously. There are plenty of people that are NOT sounders fans calling for his head as well as plenty of sounder fans that realize that a 5 day suspension should fit the bill and that these calls for the entire season etc. are out of line and silly.

Pffft, pardon me for thinking that orginal interview was a little disingenuous when he admitted he would probably make that tackle again. But hey you just won an internet fight! congratulations... I guess.

But hey, had you actually watched the video, you would have seen his tone, the look in his eyes, etc. Wasn't hard to see that he was sincere but just used unfortunate words. Likely a cause of the emotions he was going through.

    Re: Brian Mullin/Steve Zakuani incident

**Sorry- my earlier post was only half completed. This is the full post.**

How does him going through the motions of counseling change that conclusion? If he's truly seeking counseling, it's to help him deal with the fact that his "legacy" is now assured...and it's not one to be proud of. He's just abnother bully who got caught in so blatant a manner that he can't hide anymore. It's the classic perpetrator tactic to gain sympathy and maybe even make people believe that he's a victim too. Based on the posts above, it's already working...

The Rapids PR department probably hopes so, it'd be the first time they've ever been credited with anything at all.

And the quest to turn Mullan into the victim continues unabated...

Combine that with the unabated quest to crucify Mullan, and I think we'll find some truth in the middle.

Rapids PR = whomever grabs the shortest straw in the ticket office as the others franticly look for the nametag that says “public relations” after giving the short straw drawer a crash course in operating the Flip camera.

Fair enough. For the record, I've no issue with this recent article, except Smith's comments on the length of the suspension (two/three games seems like a bit of lobbying/wishful thinking, though I don't think it will be much more than five).

    Re: Brian Mullin/Steve Zakuani incident

Technically he said 2-3 on top of the normal suspension, so he's saying 3-4 total. Still less than the minimum of 5 most people expect.

Here's the thing. Zakuani should sue Mullan. If MLS and its refs have a history of not properly punishing dangerous play, then Zakuani should sue MLS and its refs.

I am not joking. There is precedent for this. When you injure an athlete for behavior that falls well outside the rules and expected behavior of the game, you are committing a battery. Zakuani consented to playing soccer not to have his leg snapped by a reckless and dangerous player out to make some ridiculous "point." The court's have upheld NFL player suits against other players for illegal play that results in severe injuries.

Not just sounders fans dude. As evidenced by RSLer. I know RSL and Colorado have a rival thing, but there have been people outspoken against him from many teams.

I'm not even on the side of the ones that want him to be sacrificed for the good of the league. I hate it when I get lumped in with it.

Personally I think he's being genuine and that for anyone to say he's lying about his remorse is basically just calling him a diabolical psychopath.

He should be distraught, and he should have a re-think about the way he's decided to play the game. Brian's comments after the game were so absurd, that he must have been a complete state of shock to make them. They're what's made so many of us anti-Mullan in this case.

The player that essentially altered the course of Eduardo's career at Arsenal with a horrendous tackle, Martin Taylor, was never the same afterwords.

I think you need to add Taylor Twellman, Dominic Kinnear, and the failed policies of George Bush to the defendant list in that suit, since everyone except for me knew that Mullan was a ticking timebomb and did nothing about it.

    Re: Brian Mullin/Steve Zakuani incident

I don't like Bush, but I won't blame him for this one.

That said, it doesn't matter if Mullan is a ticking time bomb. He committed a very serious battery against Zakuani. It is an infraction that, but for the typical ambivalence MLS shows towards that kind of dangerous play, may never have happened. There is legal precedent for suing opponents in athletic contests when the opponent commits an act that falls well outside the scope of normally expected behavior in the game. Zakuani's career is ruined because of that act. I think it's a no-brainer, and a clear violation of tort law.

Maybe he'll be so "distraught" he'll just retire and make everyone happy.

No more broken legs, no more huge paradigm shifting decisions on suspensions need to be made, win-win all around.

How dare you guys question Mullan. He is suffering the most. Zakuani has it so much easier.
