A little, but not a lot… 3 of the 4 most expensive players on the team, and Gutman who is probably top 5 in the league for his position. Plus it might be simply because of the ejection.
Gutman top 5? Really? That’s a shock to me but I’ll take it. As for the ejection knocking him of the marketing? I don’t think that makes any sense.
I only mentioned his disappearance as a sarcastic joke because you post every player score when they’re positive but don’t bother if they’re bad. That kind of bias is unfortunate.
Gutierrez rating looks about right to me. (On a relative scale, they are all a little high). Elliott?
A 5.2 for a player managed 31 minutes before being red carded and had little impact on the match during those 31 minutes, is ridiculous.
No, rating players without a control group is ridiculous. If we assume, and we must because there is no known standard, a 5 is completely average on a scale of 10, then Guti had an above average game.
Exactly my point the other day. Is the scale 1-10, with 5 as average? If so, his rating (.2 points above average) makes no sense. Is it like letter grades, where a 7(0) is "average"? If so, then 1.8 points below average is still too high, but not as ridiculous.
That is just very, very sad. What this means is that Sofascore (a stupid name, anyway) ratings are completely and totally void of any meaning or usefulness. Also, this means that Brian Gutierrez playing just 31 minutes, contributing almost nothing positive (in terms of scoring or assists) and picking up a red card was a mere 1.2 below the statistical mode and a scandalous 1.5 below the starting point.
That’s the graph I saw. Not a bell curve because it grades with an emphasis on giving more value than it takes a way. I assume everyone would be bored by 90% of the players showing up between 6-7 with 6.5 being the median and Sofascore wouldn’t make any money.
Bell curve? Do you believe the players have a normal distribution of performance? I'm ok with a measure that starts from a nominal and adjust with positives and negatives...and actually enjoy reviewing the output vs 'the eye test'. That said, the 'judgements' cast...nicely done gents. Ridiculous, Makes no sense of course, Sad, Stupid name, Void of any meaning, Bored, Scandalous! This 'stats chat' is not really about Guti...can we move further chat on this topic to the stats thread.
"Gutiérrez put his side in a tough spot against NYCFC when he was sent off in the first half after elbowing Aiden O’Neill in the face. Gregg Berhalter noted during media availability that Gutiérrez apologized to the team this week for that act." Time to move on.
Young Brian G, at the tender age of 21, demonstrating more maturity and reason than some of the posters here! Definitely time to move on.
Despite missing 2 games (for red cards), with last nights goal, at mid-season Guti now has more goals than all of last season....or any season he's played! Another one for @ChicagoFire! This time it's Brian Gutiérrez! pic.twitter.com/Bv6r36gpMY— Major League Soccer (@MLS) June 29, 2025
