Semi-final. In another context that might be pedantic but I think it matters if we’re gonna keep roasting him for forcing a good save from a keeper.
Bloody hell, Fwst rest 9 players and are 2-0 up at Chelsea in under 20 minutes. Crystal Palace aren't safe at this rate.
As @Dyvel noted, it's to do with May Day celebrations: the first Monday in May is always a bank holiday in the UK
It's not May Day. Nope siree Bob. The holiday was introduced by the Labour Party in the 1970s to celebrate the traditional May 1 "workers/labor/trade union" holiday. The Thatcher government de-politicized it and it's now "Early May" Bank Holiday. Which is a shame really, because May Day celebrations date back to pagan times, before England was thing, never mind politics. Anyway, a second head injury delay. 4 head injury substitutions so far and possibly the two combined longest halves in Premier League history. Fwst lead 3-0.
Jesus. Some of these teams are already out for summer vacation, clearly Chelsea started theirs early.
On the bright side for Chelsea, they got their first league goal in exactly two months today. Progress!
And what a finish it was! Always happy to see Chelsea lose their way, but wow Joao Pedro is a beast right now.
In theory, no, but Spurs or West Ham have 3 games to close a 6-point or 7-point gap respectively, and eliminate a GD of -3 or -13. If either of them was capable of winning 2 out of 3 games, they wouldn't be battling relegation in the first place. Palace are on 43 points and no team has reached that number and been relegated since the EPL switched to a 38-game season back in 1995-96. If they aren't exactly playing well at the moment, a solitary point from the next 4 will mathematically guarantee safety. Palace have taken 4 points from the last 5 games. It's not going to happen
Basically (if the coffee has kicked in properly) it looks like in order for one of CP or Leeds to drop WH have to win out, or win 2 and tie while erasing a 13 or 14 point neg GD. So win 3, or win 2 by more than 13 goals net and tie 1, AND Spurs have to win at least 2 (and reverse a more realistic -3 GD or win 2 and tie) AND NF have to tie one of their last 3 AND Leeds or CP have to lose all 3 final games. Leeds v WHam final game could still be a decider, but less likely now. CP have a tougher final 3 with Citeh and Arse yet to play. according to sky sport supercomputer before yesterday's game: With Wolves and Burnley's relegation confirmed, only one spot is up for grabs. After a swing weekend, West Ham's chances of relegation doubled from 38 per cent to 77 per cent. Spurs, meanwhile, have seen a massive drop in their relegation chances - going from 59 per cent to 21 per cent. Nottingham Forest have just a 2 per cent chance of getting relegated - but that could change with defeat to Chelsea on Monday. Leeds and Crystal Palace have minute chances of playing in the Championship. Their percentages sit at 0.11 and 0.03 respectively.
As I said, unlikely. But who would have thought Forest would score 16 in their last 6 league games, conceding just 3?
Oh yeah. I don't discount any of these teams ability to completely screw the pooch. I am becoming somewhat less open to the possibility that WH have not already screwed, married and left for their honeymoon with the pooch. (where does that weird saying come from anyway, he suddenly wonders as he creeps himself out with his weird post.)
Arsenal made it tighter than it needed to be, but Leeds live to play another EPL season. Congrats BA and Farke.
I would not have predicted Arse squeaking by on a late goal and a questionable decision, but yeah, West Ham did not look like they were going muster enough to sneak out of the drop. A few of my Arsenal fan friends were a bit torn that they might have saved Spurs however! lol.
By predictable, a typical late season rally by a team relegation comes to naught and I've gone through more relegations than most. Terrific performance by West Ham.
Yeah, I'm not prepared to completely right off Spurs ability to immolate, but any realistic assessment has to figure the drop is set now. Losing like that has to gut-punch WH.
A draw would require Leeds to lose to WH by something like 5 goals anyway. Spurs still need a win against Leeds tomorrow.
Brendo came off for Nmecha around the 63' in what wound up being a 1-1 draw. Leeds came INSANELY close to winning it in Stoppage time, but Spurs' keeper made an incredible reaction save to push it onto the woodwork.
