I mean, since when is pulling hair not a red card? Flagrant foul all day in my book. Like biting and spitting. There should be zero tolerance. He clearly reached out and pulled the guy’s hair.

That's a big 3 points. Leeds should be able to at least match the lower 5 for points from here out.

But I also know that anything is possible still, so I will not relax till the counting is over.

100% I'm just shocked that it was Martinez who did it! :sneaky:

The second Leeds goal showcases Aaronson ...

Much of the video is multiple replays of the shot/deflection/goal, from different angles, but the first clip shows Aaronson getting his shot stuffed but then remaining active, showing for the ball, adjusting his position quickly, battling for the header (that became the assist). While everyone else - on both teams - is repositioning, Aaronson is moving. Sometimes you create your own luck.

We also have something of a non-update update re contract talks ...

"Leeds United are eager to agree on a new deal with Aaronson, given the 57-cap USMNT international is set to enter the final year of his contract at Elland Road. Farke is reportedly leading the charge over this new agreement and wants the club to make the push, although an agreement is expected to be sought after the World Cup, as the 25-year-old playmaker is expected to play a key role for the USA."

Interesting; if they can't agree on a deal, will Brenden likely be sold to recoup their investment?

That needs someone who has deep pockets and wants him. That won't be easy.

Still impressed that he's making 45,000 pounds a week.

If @LouisianaViking07/09 is right that he's on £45k a week, they're likely to be offering around £55k, raising him to top 10 in the current Leeds squad. It's going to be really hard to find someone with the ability to outbid Leeds or any other EPL side which he'd also want to join.

We're talking about a Big 5 side in one of the Top 5 leagues - Dortmund, Frankfurt, Atletico, Betis, OM, Inter, Milan, etc. That's a very short list of clubs whose only upgrade on Leeds is getting to play CL or EL ball every season, trying a new type of football and maybe sample another lifestyle but will one of those want him and will they want him as a starter?

Leeds do, or at least as a key rotator, and if they do reach Europe via the FA Cup, he'll get even more starts than he's got this season, where it's 27 out of 32 league games. he's staying IMO

Brendo speaks to Julien Laurens at ESPN:

The 25-year-old former Philadelphia Union player said he is eager for a positive end to what he called "definitely my best season in my career so far."

"I think for us, the biggest thing was the Premier League, staying up and just having a great season, which I think we've done and we've put ourselves in a great position," he said. "And then the cherry on top is being the FA Cup and getting to the semifinals.

"And for us, of course we're focused on game by game, like you like to think as a footballer, but that's in the back of your head. It's going to be a massive game for this club and for this team."

I wait until they retire and are able to speak more freely than when they are a player. I thought Troy Aikman was a robot and then he retired and had an actual personality and was a funny guy.

Or, for the Anglos on here who remember the 80s, the snooker player Steve Davis.

The dominant player of the 80s and early 90s, he was nicknamed "Interesting" in an ironic commentary on his utterly bland, monotone interviews on the circuit. In later years, he showed a sharp sense of humour which delighted in sending himself up.

A lot of top players just don't like the limelight that much and want to concentrate on their game and their home life. Generating controversy takes up bandwidth that they either don't have or have other things to use it on

A Leeds win and Spurs loss at home to Brighton will leave Leeds 9 points clear with 3 games left. But

The assist from Brenden Aaronson today was an absolute thing of beauty:

Hopefully he's (re)-rounding into form at the right time. He's definitely making a final push to ensure his inclusion in the World Cup squad. Honestly, we need the winger depth, and he has the versatility to play in a more central role as well.

EDIT: If that Twitter link didn't work, try this one: https://sbisoccer.com/2026/04/brenden-aaronson-assists-once-in-leeds-uniteds-home-win

Today's win has put Leeds on 39 points and only twice this century have teams hit 39 points and still gone down, West Ham (02-03) and Birmingham & Blackpool (10-11).

On top of that, Tottenham's draw leaves them 8 points behind Leeds with 5 games to go.

Football is a funny old game, but it's not that funny. It's about the FA Cup now, and Chelsea are beatable.
