Do we have an update on Dan James, who injured his hamstring against Man City?

Gotta love headlines like that. Crappy team better turn it around against City, Chelsea and Liverpool or coach is out of here!

The coach seems like less of a problem than the fact that their squad is inferior to most in the league and they don't really have much PL quality at many positions. Although I guess the coach arguably may not be top shelf quality either - but who will they be able to get that may be able to turn things around? Gary O'Neil maybe.

It’s basically a replay of Marsch at Leeds, where their xG numbers are decent but the results aren’t there to match, they panic, hit the big red FIRE COACH button, and then things (potentially) go to shit.

Hopefully they hire Postecoglou for the entertainment.

    From Farke today ...

"Sadly, Daniel James hamstring tendon is injured, how long it depends if he needs surgery. Looks like he can do conservative way but will probably miss next eight weeks at least, could be longer with surgery.

It’s tough. Everyone knows how much I love Daniel James. A key player for me. Missing last season and major parts of pre-season. Fought so hard to be back in his best shape and we were extra careful, gave him more minutes. He’s worked so much in the last weeks to be back in the best shape, so motivated. Never seen him so disciplined, on top path to be back to his best but sometimes you can’t choose. He was a bit heartbroken when he got this assessment. Need him back as soon as possible."

Wales need James back for the WC playoff on March 26, which may be possible.

They're playing well enough but they're not scoring - Calvert-Lewin as your step-up-to-the-Prem signing equals "we're screwed" - so they'd better get the chequebook out, fast. A good striker, on loan or as a permanent signing, will solve an awful lot of problems.

Wolves are gone, so there are only 2 relegation slots left. If your XG is measurably better than Burnley's or West Ham's and a new striker starts converting chances, you're in business. If it's better than both of them, you'll join Forest in pulling clear of relegation.:thumbsup:

Then you get to spend like the devil to stay up again next season :(:( but that's a problem for another day

Aaronson is on the bench, as projected. Leeds hosting Chelsea.

While Leeds GF is not good, it's their GA that's really doing them. They've lost 4 league games by 1 goal and another 2 games by 2 goals. Only been blown out twice (so far) really. But they can't hold a lead. AV is playing well this year, but Leeds were up early and couldn't even eek out a tie. Manage a comeback v. Citeh and give up injury time goal. Had Spurs tied at the half... lost by 1. Gave up the tying goal to B'mouth... in injury time. Gave up the losing (OG) to Fulham in... injury time. They even gave up an IT goal to Forest and a 90 minute consolation goal to WHam - tho neither was consequential.

This team doesn't need a new coach, they need Ted Lasso's sports shrink - or shorter games.

isn't this what Marsch and then a bunch of other guys all got the boot for last time in the Prem? They could all score goals and be competitive, but couldn't shut-down shop when they needed to...

Just the 4 points they've given up in IT would have them up to 15th, jumping Fulham...

85 minute games! Or no injury time!!

Leeds start with a back 5 for the first time this season today, what a surprise, who could’ve seen this coming?

It's working too as Leeds go ahead with a - very - early goal.

Now another 90m minutes to hang on . . . before conceding their 2 customary IT goals :whistling::whistling:

If they hold out and win this one, could be a long while before BA gets another start...

    There are only two halves.

(I was shocked the only time I played hockey when after the second half they told me there was another one).

Leeds are up 3-1 with about 10 regular mins to go btw. Playing well, but looking tired. Good time for the energizer pressing bunny...

2 more changes for Leeds. Not BA. 4 subs so far. 5 left.

Brendo is a DNP after LUFC uses the 5th sub to get another defender on the pitch. I was guessing that BA wasn't gonna play after the comical 3rd goal. Pragmatic decision from Farke.

Cut to dozens of LUFC fans online posting "SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU BENCH AARONSON???"

Ends 3-1. Huge win for Leeds and Farke... not so much for BA.

Out of the drop for the moment at least.

Leeds stayed very organized in defense and unspooled a few counters that were very well executed late in the game. Chelsea looked a step off and couldn't seem to get to ball in the past 20 mins, but credit Leeds. Fought hard and fought well with the chances they had.

On the one hand you’d normally be right (and I agree that this would normally be the case) however the fixture congestion and the holiday helps Brendan here immensely, as he will get enough minutes to earn another start, if he performs.

I think the bigger issue is how much better (or, let's say "effective") they've looked for the past game and half without BA. After 5 straight non-wins, with only 1 point to show for it, Farke's going to be hardpressed to tinker with things unless folks get crocked or Leeds loses their balance for a few games straight.

James' injury does open up some time, but not being one of the "kill the game" subs does not suggest Farke feels the need to get BA back quickly.

Hats off to Farke and the Leeds squad today - a great win - Aaronson may play some thru the holidays … but unless something changes I can see Farke keeping Brendan on the bench indefinitely - they simply have looked better without him. Gnonto did not play either today. Farke may want to ignore the fans but the results without BA speak for themselves - Leeds physically handled the Blues today and Brendan is just not that type of player.
