They're unlikely to ever get a positive ROI given what they paid for him. But he does still have two years on his contract (per TM) so they can utilize him this season and sell next and hope his value rises in the mean time. I guess I haven't paid close attention to Leeds recently, but it's never seemed like they really thought he could cut the mustard for them in the EPL so I've been kind of assuming that they'd move him if they brought in the reinforcements that they think WILL meet their expectations (I'm intentionally not making a judgment about their expectations here).
I asked AI for help To find this information on Transfermarkt: Go to the Transfermarkt website. https://www.transfermarkt.com/statistik/transferfenster Navigate to the "Summer transfer window" or "Winter transfer window" pages. You can filter the overview by confederation, country, league level, or status (open, closed, etc.). https://www.transfermarkt.com/statistik/transferfenster The statistics will show you the exact opening and closing dates for each transfer window.
Yeah, between TM and FBref it's crazy what you can dig up easily now - makes it so much harder for me to just make stuff up at the bar. Very disappointing, really.
Aaronson remains on the bench, Leeds visiting Arsenal. I would have started Aaronson, expecting to be chasing a lot, but perhaps it's better this way. Hope Leeds get torched unless/until BA enters.
He looks like he'll carve out a role this season, maybe even start. There's a higher level of play speed, nuance, skill, & defense to his game than some of his competing teammates. James may be a minor league star because he thrives in space and a direct style, but he's not getting that nearly as much in the EPL. Stach is a more sensible passer as a 10, but you can break him down as the point of your press. I could see BA rotating in at CM v. tougher opponents. Came on in the 60's down big. Got to think this was a stock up game for Brenden cuz his pressing ability made a difference, albeit it's tough to win a lot there w/ how slick Arsenal is. When he got the ball, he looked for an early ball fw & found a few deft ones. Looking confident, energized.
Speaking of starts, all (pundits?) agree Aaronson should/will start tomorrow @ Sheffield Wednesday (Horvath) in the EFL Cup. For example: "With Leeds the better side, reverting to 4-2-3-1 seems suitable and that will see Brenden Aaronson return to the line-up in his natural 10 role. Latest signing Noah Okafor makes sense on the left of the attack." https://www.leedsunited.news/news/p...el-farke-makes-nine-changes-five-full-starts/
Went 58' before being replaced by Gnoto. Match is still even at 1-1. Brendo gave fellow Yank Ethan Horvath a few things to think about, but wasn't quite clinical enough
Aaronson on in the 60th minute and gets stuck in a number of times, winning his battles for the ball for the most part. Contributes to a scoreless draw with Newcastle, though may have blown his best chance with an iffy first touch.
Really tough ball hit with far too much pace by Stach. Some great Aaronson footwork and cutback towards the end. Most Leeds folx seem to want a better option than James and Aaronson on the right, and I can't fault them, but Aaronson will be at worst a frequently used impact (offensive and defensive) sub on the right and occasionally at the 10.
That's his future at this level I'm afraid. He's just not big or physical enough for the EPL and isn't outstanding enough on other areas to compensate. He has to drop to mid-table or bottom half of the other Top 5 if he wants to become a starter.
