Yes, the trick with Aaronson is to figure out how best to exploit his skills which tends to emerge over time. Fotmob has Aaronson playing the 1 in a 3421 in the last game of the season. Union Berlin vs SC Freiburg - live score, predicted lineups and H2H stats (fotmob.com) I feel like what may happen is that Brenden goes back for another loan season at Union if offers at 12M level don't materialize for a sale from Leeds in August. Now that he has become accustomed to Bundesliga, I think that will be his best bet. You could kinda feel the love between Brenden and Berlin as the season wore on. They certainly had great fans. A guy who would understand how to use him in Bundesliga is the new manager at Wolfsburg (Hasenhuttl) who has re-energized that club which was drifting into relegation zone. Their player values aren't far off from 12M level and Aaronson could help with chance creation much as Kevin Paredes has, from the lwb position in kev's case. Wolfsburg's CAM is Majer who was bought for 25M and I don't see anything particularly spectacular in his play tho he might argue that he doesn't have the best targets to work with. Aaronson would work the advanced wing areas more than Majer which should balance out the attack while Aaronson would also bring more bite playing against the ball.
So glad they lost the final. This is when their resources are really gonna be stretched and the last of their bonafide EPL guys head out the door. Moon door, anyone?
I think they have another year of parachute payments? But then 49ers inc. are gonna have to start funding their promotion pushes. They won’t splash big this year, but they can afford to hold on to a few “big names” for another season.
"I think they have another year of parachute payments?" I believe you are correct as it is my understanding that Norwich's are now ending and they went down the year previous. Sargent will be moving on because of this and it is also part of the reason Wagner was let go.
55% of EPL broadcasting revenue year 1 45% in year 2 20% in year 3 if they were in the EPL for more than 1 season The base broadcasting payment this season was £80M/$102M.
Which is why they sold a stake to Red Bull, plus made Red Bull their shirt sponsor in a side deal. They aren't going to be short of money for the next 2-3 seasons. Not by Championship standards anyway. https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/may/30/red-bull-invest-leeds-main-shirt-sponsor
I saw this earlier today and chuckled to myself. It was a running joke after Leeds hired Jesse and then brought in Aaronson, Adams, Kristensen, and Wober that they should've just sold the club to Red Bull (it didn't help that they were also linked to both Hasenhüttl and Ragnick after firing Marsch). Now they've gone an done it, lmao.
Aaronson will be playing for Leeds next season. https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co...-road-return-after-daniel-farke-talks-4659237 Interestingly, the article says he had the option to return to Union Berlin.
Reluctant Return: Brenden Aaronson at Leeds Utd Not the Champions, the Championship: Brenden Aaronson at Leeds Utd Hate the team, not the player: Brenden Aaronson at Leeds Utd
Now that he's returning the Leeds youtubers have almost uniformly adjusted their thinking about him. Recognizing the various factors that might have contributed to his less than expected/hoped for performances with Leeds, while also giving him credit for his obvious attributes and likely success at the Championship level. I suspect most of the Leeds fans will quickly do the same if he does prove to be highly capable at this level (he will).
One of the points made was that the deal with Union was done before Farke came in. This decision was made after positive talks with Farke (who also would love to acquire Sargent). I'm feeling optimistic.
Yeah, wonder what the details are there, but on paper that looks an odd choice. I mean, just Berlin v. Yorkshire would seem to be a deal breaker, forget Bund v. Champs.
BA will do well to put in a shift at Leeds this campaign and help get them promoted. of the 3, he's the one that should have stayed, but it is what it is. He didn't exactly light up the Buli, but he did alright. A solid year in the championship and getting Leeds back up will go a long way to recovering his Leeds hatred. lol'z
Being a German coach I'm sure Farke knows and appreciates what Aaronson brings. My worry is a quick trigger if things don't go swimmingly immediately. Too much of that in England now. Almost as bad as Brazil used to be with their coaching changes. Contrast to teams that win a lot had to show patience for their coach when times weren't that great and then the reward of a consistent coach and philosophy for year.
I do think BA's quickness-of-feet, if he gets a bit of space to use it, could prove very effective in the Cola league in the right system. He should get a few steals from teams that play out of the back too slowly and could do a bit of damage in attack. He needs someone to finish for him though, or at least be enough of a danger to open some room. BA's putting-it-in-the-back-of-the-net skills need honing. Maybe Champs gives him more practice.
Don't see how the C'Ship will improve his weaknesses. With someone like Sargent it did make sense. Youngish striker needing to improve and perfect his finishing. Reps is most important for that position. Aaronson as more of an AM/wing, needs to improve decision making, final 3rd combo play and aggression towards goal. A 2nd year at Berlin would have been great and he was finally finding his footing. It's a significant drop down in level of play now. And to a far less tactical league.
