Brenden, on the first shot (11') your head and shoulder stability and squaring look ok but where is your foot pointing at the end of your stroke? It should be pointing at the target at the end of your stroke.

And I turn it on just in time to see Aaronsen just come short sliding to try to redirect a far-post ball. Not an easy finish but if he'd gotten solid boot on it he would have rolled it in.

BA earns a corner with an attempted near post shot. Only watched a few seconds but he's very lively atm.

another corner for FCU. It's 0-0 but they've had all the ball since I tuned in.

HT. A bit of a hurly-burly game but Aaronsen has looked lively and much of the attack has gone down his right side. FCU have not been good close to goal, however. Augburg playing defend and counter in the minutes I watched.

I come back from HT and, of course, FCA are up 1-0...

In the eye test he does look better than usual and is certainly not spending half his time on the ground. He seems to be willing to absorb contact and is playing better overall. His physical stats were also pretty good again.

    • Duels won 13
    • Duels lost 6
    • Ground duels won 10/15 (67%)
    • Aerial duels won 3/4 (75%)
    • Touches 74
    • Touches in opposition box 11
    • Successful dribbles 5/9 (56%)
    • Total shots 3
    • Accurate passes 31/40 (78%)

All in another 90 minutes. If he can develop into even an average level of offensive output I think with his work rate and coachability he can definitely find a role for mid-low table teams in the better leagues in Europe.

Brenden starting vs Bayern. 10’ in, still 0-0. I haven’t caught any of the game yet, but will try to watch it from here

Fairly open and interesting game thus far, 20 minutes in. No clear chances on either end. Aaronson has been solid. Sprayed a few nice passes wide, but nothing super dangerous yet. Pressing well (obvs).

Aaronson just forced a Davies turnover. Concacaf action!

1-0 Bayern in the 30th minute. Bayern with a nice bit of passing and movement, striking lightening quick. Goretzka with a nice touch and finish. Aaronson not involved.

Union with their third promising counter of the match, but nothing comes of it. Shafer and Hollerbach need to do better with these openings.

Extremely questionable free kick given to Bayern. Kane delivers the goal on the free kick. Shitty wall.

2-0 Bayern. Union has to feel pretty unlucky in what’s been a fairly even match.

And that’s the half. Union 0.25 xG to Bayern’s 0.47 xG. But Bayern with the two goal lead. Oof.

Aaronson has played pretty well. Though a bit quiet. He’s playing a fairly deep right CM in a three man midfield. Union’s problem has been the final pass, but Aaronson usually deeper not not to blame for the sputtering attacks. He’s played well as a pest in midfield and helping spring attacks.

Blah first half by both Gladbach and Union for 0-0. Broadcast had to really dig to find any highlights to show during the half. Aaronson had one shot from outside the box but weak and easily saved.

Brenden's shot lost its power because his plant foot sends the power into the ground. He should study Phil Foden's shooting technique and notice what the supple plant foot is doing.

Union up 2:0 in the 20th minute. They really only needed a draw to clear out Koln. But they require the extra pts to avoid the playoff. Actually clinch if they can hold on, & Mainz lose to BVB.

BA hasn't really been involved much yet. Maybe the energy & swag is infectious.

Koln pull one back before halftime. Reckless grab in the box by Khedira leads to a penalty. 2-1.

Mediocre half by BA. Should use body better & hit pass earlier. Over-committed defensively. Plenty of offensive involvement as half wore on. Usually kept but sometimes wasted possession.

Comes off in the 53rd minute. Even though I wasn't overly positive about his performance, that's an odd one. He's a 2-way player & he's been pretty good the last few months. It's hasty.

Hopefully Union hold on. Sucks relegation would go on BA's record, even though he hasn't had enough to say about it the last couple weeks, and the team won his minutes by a good margin.

Koln complete the comeback. It's the dual national, Damien Downs.

It's disgusting from the manager's perspective. Back to back games they out-play their opponent and win Aaronson's minutes. But he only plays half the games. And looks like they'll only net 1 pt.
