Tsakiris and Miller I'm expecting big jumps from in the next year. Dunno much about Brennan but during the friendlies with Chile last month he really impressed me. Also worth mentioning that Cole Campbell and Taha Habroune also had assists
Peyton Miller was a real breakout this season. He ain't going to be in MLS for long................. Probably one more MLS season, and then this time next year is his 18th birthday. He's from Connecticut. An act of the Revs expanding their reach thruoughout New England. Very few capped USMNTers from Connecticut. Curt Onalfo was born in Brazil but raised in Connecticut. Tony DiCicco, who people remember for his stint as UWNT coach, was capped by the full USMNT back in the day. He's from Hartford. But recently? I can't think of any.
Another good win for the U20s. In case people don't know him, Habroune plays for Columbus. Campbell and Cremaschi got great reviews online. Julian Eyestone with some good saves. 1858571379085636067 is not a valid tweet id
Rumors abound that Neil Pierre has already signed a HG deal with the Union first team (already on a Union II deal). This might soon be one of those Cavan Sullivan-style sign and stash operations. Neil can't move to Europe for a year. The youth boards have been talking about him for a while. Clearly one to monitor. 1862052283480936829 is not a valid tweet id
See replies to this tweet for a review of young players in the USL Championship this past season. The Young Player of the Year in the USLC was Elijah Wynder of Louisville. Josh's brother. As the thread indicates, it was kind of a disappointing year in the USLC. Lots of young players on rosters, but not as many minutes as you'd want. This isn't MLSNP, which is a clearly defined developmental league. The point of the USLC is ultimately to win games now. 1862919460706742670 is not a valid tweet id
Hassan has been with our U16s most recently and is a member of the Sounders academy. 15-year-old forward Omar Hassan has reportedly been invited to trial with multiple Bundesliga clubs 👀He’s had a major year with club and country, winning MVP at the Vlatko Markovic with goals against England and Japan along with scoring on his pro debut in the MLS NEXT Pro 🔥 pic.twitter.com/SzFQmoTpM2— Footy Access (@footy_access) December 5, 2024
There should be a flurry of homegrown signings coming in preparation for the 2025 season. Mehmeti is a highly regarded prospect. He's an Albania dual-national, and has attended camps for both the US and Albania. The Homegrown Class of 2025 begins. Mehmeti signed thru 2028 with an option for 2029. New York Red Bulls sign homegrown midfielder Adri Mehmeti | MLSSoccer.com
SKC getting in on the homegrown signing act again. They hadn't signed a homegrown since 2021. Both of these players have represented USYNTs recently. Sporting Kansas City signs homegrowns Ian James, Jack Kortkamp | MLSSoccer.com
RBNY has a history of playing and developing their HG's while KC is pretty lacking. I can't understand how Vermes keeps his job.
Am I going blind or is Peyton Miller not on here 💫 The future of the fullback position! 💫Here is a thread of American U21 Fullback's that I think show some promise.(In order of age)⬇️⬇️⬇️ https://t.co/Ca2Ebf7KFl pic.twitter.com/mrHSEAGasN— USMNT Report 🇺🇸🇹🇷 (@USMNTReport) December 12, 2024
SKC was actually an adopter of the homegrown initiative with some real early successes, but then seems to have completely let it slide. USMNT and USYNT success. Guys like Erik Palmer-Brown and Gianluca Busio. They signed guys after that, but not many hit. Not a high success rate. Vermes didn't seem particularly interested. These are SKC's 20th and 21st homegrown signings. Only the most ardent academy/youth watchers on these boards would get very far naming them. Jake Davis is kinda under-the-radar on these boards. He started 25 games for them last year. Was playing well enough that people were asking why he wasn't considered more for the Olympic team. [For which we had a dearth of right backs after Reynolds wasn't released and Scally was chosen for the senior team.] John Pulskamp is another of their homegrown signings that might still come good. If I remember, he was an alternate keeper for the Olympic team. Both of these new homegrown signings came from Minnesota's academy. SKC had to trade for their rights, which reportedly cost them more than LAFC had to pay Minnesota for Darboe. Its funny. All of these clubs are now paying Minnestoa for their academy players. Minnesota had talent, but had no interest in the homegrown signing game. That's fine, but what a waste!
Lots of MLS guys on the midfielders list 💫 The future of the central midfield position! 💫Here is a thread of American U21 CM's that I think show some promise.(In order of age)⬇️⬇️⬇️ https://t.co/EKMG1xy1V4 pic.twitter.com/rNcdU8NLnJ— USMNT Report 🇺🇸🇹🇷 (@USMNTReport) December 17, 2024
🇺🇸 Youth Transfer to Europe2009 born CB, Ethan Degny, is leaving Atlanta United’s academy for OGC Nice’s in 🇫🇷. Degny has a 🇫🇷 passport and will join Nice in Jan when he turns 16. Degny is one of the top 🇺🇸 CBs in the 2009 class, but curiously has not yet featured for a USYNT. pic.twitter.com/cb3CLNxU9e— Marcus Chairez | US/SC (@USSoccerColl) December 18, 2024
Anyone watch enough college soccer to enlighten us if we happen to have any quality players entering the MLS draft? Christmas list would be (1) center back, (2) right back, and (3) goalkeeper.
Figures. Been a long time since someone actually international level has come out of the college ranks .
Tim Ream, Walker Zimmerman, Matt Turner. There is a pattern. But yeah, it is a fading part of the pipeline. Maybe Patrick Schulte will carry the torch.

Two of those guys are SLU alumni, and we had a CB go second overall this year. Max Floriani could be a starter from day one on a San Jose team that needs to completely revamp their defense. Hope springs eternal, but he’s a strong, smart competitor who also occasionally stepped into the midfield or played fullback depending on injuries and has plus ball skills for a CB.
Unfortunately, this is a distinct possibility. Although he did show signs of life this year after a pretty dismal start to his pro career.
