No clear winner, this one had two votes so credit @MizzouMUFC for the thread title which can change if needs be. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61079115 1517083257539637248 is not a valid tweet id
Same as all our previous managers, key will be whether the board back him properly by giving him decent players. Hopefully the lead-up to this of EtH demanding more of a say on recruitment and the disposal of Lawlor and Bout from the Recruitment Dept is recognition something has to change. Will also be key whether Ralf (who at least has some experience as a DoF) is listened to by the higher-ups and put in a proper role. A Paul Mitchell appointment to help with signings would also go some way to making EtH / Ralf / Mitchell a proper team to run the footballing side of this club.
This will be important. Fans need to be ok with finishing 8th next season. Gonna take time for scouting to get things right, bring right players in, clear out useless players, and for ETH to put his stamp on the team.
It is also on ETH to be realistic in his assessment and expectation-setting. No need for dumb promises. Don't be afraid to come out and say that there are a ton of issues with the team that need to be addressed before we become competitive with top clubs.
Yeah, not digging the Shiteh manager named in our first new manager thread. It will take some for him to put this dumpster fire out.
Need a good summer to back him and not expecting any miracles straightaway Manager bump is usually a charade, so hoping steady progress under ETH.
I'm all for changing the title. I just threw something out there. I was expecting you jabronis to come up with something better.
We know van der Gaag his assistant is coming, hope his well-respected physical conditioning coach / injury prevention guy Alessandro Schoenmaker comes with him too. We had a buttload of players unavailable vs Liverpool who had all their players fit. The fitness coach will be key for us too to transition to ten Hag style.
Word is we are finally going to bring in a top level data analytics person. Apparently we are miles behind Pool and City in terms of modern medicine and data analysis. Shocker.
On the thread title, need people to either rep the @United 16 thread title above or propose their own. Then need a mod to do their stuff. As a safety, could always use the fairly dog-eared; Erik the Red - The Erik ten Hag Thread
As much detail as you could want on how EtH sets up his teams. Howsons vid plus the referenced twitter thread and tifo football video; 1506301676570959877 is not a valid tweet id
With the way ETH plays, we can’t afford to go into the season without getting a new CB. Maguire, for all the shit he’s gotten this season, can do a decent job in a team that sits deep and counters. But he is incapable of playing a high line. He just can’t do it. Varane is only fit half of the season and Lindelof is bang average. We need a ball playing CB that has some recovery pace. It’s a must for ETH.
We do need a CB, but with the amount of time Varane's out (always when we need him most), Maguire will probably still feature rather regularly. There's been talk of Timber, but I don't know much about him. Hopefully we can get Rudiger, but he'll have suitors. I think he wants to go to Real Madrid, but I think we can get him. He'd be a great signing.
Van Der Gaad agreed a deal with United. Let's see if he become the no2. I am for McClaren to take on a coaching role as well. We need Paul Mitchell in there. Then we can start working on the field.
This upheaval can be nothing but a good thing. Club needs a fresh restart. No more reliance on the Fergie years and those personalities.
