Last regular season game at Harvard in 2010. FSC (Fabiana, Smith, Cheney) will be there. Breakers five points ahead in the standings. Would be a nice time for Boston to weave all around those orange traffic cones and pick up their first ever win against them!
So I heard there's going to be extra security around the Dock area following the alleged Hope Solo incidents......... Search youtube: "What a waste of council tax" (Very funny FC United video but one part is slightly inappropriate so I thought I wouldn't embed it here)
Back from the match. We really overpowered them tonight. They were pretty much left trying to boot it over the top for the whole first half. Good luck trying to do that against Amy and Ifeoma. Tarpley was everpresent in our transition. And of course Kelly Smith gave a clinic out there. Just so creative! And when Tasha came on SBFC seemed a little more dangerous but Boston' defense was just too solid.:
Nope, they had more security around the visitors bench, very pointedly NOT extra security around the Dock because that is NOT where the problem is or was.
You guys really weaved your way around us Traffic Cones tonight. I would have loved for us to have been some competition, but we're having some difficulties. Well played match. I have to say Boston has been one of the teams I have grown to enjoy watching. Keep up the good work and good luck! The Tide *waves finger*. Seeing those flags was the only thing that gave me a reason to laugh during the match.
Breakers Fans.......We won't get fooled again!!!! This team had heart and passion like no other from the very beginning. Matt.... Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!!!! Lilly's speech said it all. Best team, best fans in WPS.
What a great game by the Breakers! I finally got my free Qdoba!! The stadium was amazing, biggest crowd in a while! Anyway here are my pictures from the game (only the first half this time):www.flickr.com/photos/alilovesthepens11/sets/72157624734489190/ Can't believe the difference from the first half of the season!
I'm in a couple of your pictures, so who knows maybe you are in one of mine. http://www.pbase.com/revsnet/august_15_2010_blue_sky&view=slideshow First half only for me too... See you next season!
Watched the game (on tv) with various members of my extended family (and sans computer). Everyone enjoyed watching. My bro-in-law was very impressed w/ Del Rio & Angeli's goals. Me, I'm a total Tarpley homer. And her goal wasn't even the best moment but a total Tarpley be in the right place & good things happen. She makes every team she's on better. Congrats to the Breakers/Breaker fans. The work of the season isn't done yet & 4 road games is going to be very challenging.
I didn't notice the extra security, but we were sitting pretty far up. The crowd was great last night and there should be good attendance numbers. The best part about the team right now is that a variety of players are contributing to the attack and they can score in different ways. Lilly almost had a goal also. It was exactly the opposite earlier in the season until the midfield solidified and Angeli opened the flood gates. Tarp and Osborne seem to find each other well; I'm sure it's because they've played together for so long. I will be surprised/pissed if Pia doesn't call one or both into camp (I'm sorry...Allie Long? Maybe I've missed something). Fabiana seems to be best used right now as a sub where she can add a spark and burn tired defenses. Sometimes she holds the ball too long and doesn't pass to wide open teammates, but she is improving. Isn't she like 20/21? Overall a great, entertaining match for Boston, although SBFC was painful to watch in person. We really needed to beat them after so many close losses.
uhoh. She looked like she was in pain. Fouling was really Panico's only contribution to the game, unfortunately. I just looked up shoulder separation and it seems more painful than a dislocated shoulder beacuse it involves your clavicle and scapula instead of your arm bone. The good news is that most cases don't call for surgery. She just keeps getting injured, and I think her leg issue is still not completely resolved.
Great game, though Leslie will be tough to replace next week. Let's hope she has a quick recovery. Away in NC, so I had to watch this one on TV. Dock sounded great, Breakers dominated, and now I know why WPS fans not from Boston complain so much about the football lines at Harvard. So much worse on TV. Don't forget to email your votes for your top 3 players of the game to info (at) riptide08 (dot) com. With the season winding down, we'll have to decide on our Player of the Year soon.
That's ok! Leslie is a warrior!!! She'll just slam it back into place like Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon! Now HE'S a racist!
Congratulations on a terrific game. That was the best game have seen all season.Perfect game plan executed with skill and precision.Hope that Osborne's injury is not too serious, Panico deserved a red card as she went in from behind plus elbow to head. Well played Breakers
Not that I feel we get to EVERY player....But we (myself and Toole) heckled Panico for a good 15 minutes while she was warming up in front of us.... Sorry Les! Great shots Tony!! Angeli's goal....
I see Sarah Walsh in that full team picture. Does anyone know her status now? Has she recovered enough to be seen on the field this season?
This is really the key to the recent success. Coach DiCicco must have watched enough World Cup to become enamored with the 4-2-3-1. This formation fits this team's personel perfectly. With Angeli roaming forward from the D mid position, coupled with occasional attacking forays by the right back, the team is consistently getting 5-6 players into the attack. Opponents can no longer just mark Smith out with two people as there are too many other players out there who can score. Not to mention, she is more free to roam and even helped back on transition defense once or twice. Cheney plays the target in this line-up very well. She really handles tough balls to her feet with her back to goal superbly and her distribution back to her midfield was very good. "Sometimes" is an understatement. She's a little lost for a position on this team right now. There is just too much depth to have someone who turns the ball over too often to be out there. Smith was a little guilty of holding the ball too longe yesterday also but she contributes so much to the attack that you can forgive her. P.S. - Tony...no more short corners please. They don't work. The one corner that was struck to the far post resulted in a goal.
Your kind words to them will not keep the Riptide and the rest Breakers supporters from booo-ing and heckling Hope Solo next Saturday to no end.
Not going to lie, I saw the thread title and thought the Breakers had a team-building challenge on North Harvard Street involving a golf cart.
