Brazilians Shock World

In a surprising turn of events, the Brazilian National Team has requested to be called by their real names in the upcoming World Cup. As it turns out, the players have long despised being referred to by their nicknames.

Pele recently complained, “My name is Edson Arantes Do Nascimento or translated to English, David Matthew Roy. That is what my parents named me and that is what I want to be called. Stupid Americans and your nicknames. What is Pele? I don’t even know what that means!”

Declare Wish to go by Their Full Names

This doesn't seem credible at all. I don't think Pele would ever say "stupid Americans", considering the time and effort he put in America.

Also, I always thought Ronaldinho name was not actually Gaucho. Gaucho is a nickname for Brazilians who come from the south.... it's just anouther nickname for him. It would be the equivalent of someone from Indiana to be named Mike Hoosier, or someone from Oklahoma be Lisa Okie. I could be wrong, but Ronaldinho was not born Ronaldo Gaucho.

Gaucho's in Brazil are people born in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. The southernmost State in Brazil. IE Cariocas are from Rio.....Paulistas from Sao Paulo and Mineiros from Minas Gerais.

I'm not sure if ESPN always does this but on their gamecast live of el classico on the team lineups the brazilians all have their full names written. Ronaldinho's can't even fit on the page.
