Have any top Brazilian internationals ever played in the argie league?? I seem to recall Sorin playing for Cruizero but I dont recall any top brazilians ever playing for the likes of River plate ,Boca juniors ,etc...
NewsFLash: They dont like Brasilians in Argentina. And their league pay them well enough(when they get paid) and its just as visible for that trip to Europe so they rather stay. But there have been a few that have played in the Argie league.
Yeah ,they obviously hate each other but there must be afew examples of Brazilians playing for an argie club at some point in history. Anyone got any examples??
domingos de guia the only brasilian i can think off-hand who played in argentina was the one year the immortal domingos da guia played for boca jrs. in the 1930s! he also played one year for nacional of uruguay. there must be some brasilians who played in argentina, but they would have been very marginal players, not the big stars (except da guia of course). the race thing against brasilians in argentina isn't very pleasant. eugene www.manya.org
In bosta jrs in 1999 a brasilian came i forget his name he was a right sided defender... sucked! in velez in 2001 the had muller... a old but decent foward....
Of course there have been several Brazilians who shined in Argentina throughout our long football history. My favorite was Paulo Valentim. He was an idol of Boca Juniors and always managed to play his best and score goals against River Plate. I believe he is the top goalscorer for Boca Juniors in games against River Plate. He won two Argentine championships and also played for Boca in the copa libertadores. He played in the early sixties. I never actually saw him play. (I was one year old when he played in the libertadores), but I read a lot about him in old 'El Grafico' magazines, and heard a lot about him from older Boca Juniors fans.
Sorry for the double post, but I just had to go and look for some link to the great Valentim. I didn't know he had also played for the Brazilian national team, and scored five goals in five games for them. http://www.terravista.pt/nazare/7680/idolos/paulo_valentim.htm
Argentines in Brasil Briefly last year, a defender from San Lorenzo, Ameli, transferred to Inter-RS because SL defaulted on his contract. I think he was the captain of SL. He played well in about 6 games, but of course Colorado could not meet his contract either, so he moved on to Sao Paulo. I seem to remember he played well for SP. Is he still there? Another Argentine i remember playing in Brasil, as late as last year, was Galvan. He played for Santos and another team before that. Does his name ring any bells? It seems that the few Argentines who do play in Brasil do very well there, and appear to be happily accepted by the supporters. Sorin was a big hero for the Cruzerio toricda. eugene www.manya.org
guess what? Here comes fast Iarley .................
The last important brazilian player in the argentinean leagues that I can remember is Silas, who was in the 90' WC in Italy. Beyond him only a few minnows are likely to play there. About argies playing in Brazil, they are very well accepted by the fans when they bring some of the "garra argentina" with them. Not only Sorín comes to mind, but also Mancuso (Palmeiras, Flamengo) who was in the 94' WC.
Huh? There was no Alejandro Victor Mancuso in the argentinean roster of the WC 94?? He's in my PLACAR guide to USA' 94.
USA '94 Arg vs Nig: ARG: Islas - Sensini (87 Diaz), Caceres, Ruggeri, Chamot - Simeone, Redondo, Maradona (c), Balbo (71 Mancuso) - Caniggia, Batistuta NGA: Rufai (c) - Eguavon, Ochechukwu, Nwanu, Emenalo - Oliseh (86 Okocha), Siasia (57 Adepoju), Amokachi, Finidi - Yekini, Amunike
Boca had a left-sided brazilian defender like 2 years back. Jorginho, who was on loan from Udinese (one of the many players with the passport scandal). Had 2 caps for the Brazilian National Team. Two years ago, as well, Voca had another young brazilian playing in their reserve squad. I will look him up and tell you guys his name.
Negro Astrada played in Brazil for a bit then returned to river...some brazilians in 2nd division i heard
