Flamengo just fired Filipe Luis. Absolutely nuts.

After the 8x0 win over Madureira I spent the rest of the evening playing some games. Before logging off I checked UOL and the bug sports news is that Flamengo fired FL out of nowhere and are talking to Leo Jardim.

It was so unexpected and nonsensical that fans have been wondering if the club website was hacked. But ge reported it and at that point people were just in disbelief.

I almost hope we don't win any title this year so this stupidity isn't rewarded.

That's just brutal. I did not expect it.

I think BAP was already pissed Filipe Luis involved Jorge Mendes in the renewal and how much he asked. This feels like an ego thing.

Word is that BAP found out a couple of weeks ago that FL last year, while negotiating the renewal, went silent and paused negotiations because he thought Chelsea was interested in him. Turns out Chelsea owner wanted him to take the Strasbourg job.

Which is a shit justification. He was out of contract and there's nothing wrong with listening to offers. It comes down to the relationship as you mentioned in your previous post and this was the excuse they gave to make it look like they were wronged by FL.

Oh yeah ... FL did nothing wrong. It's 100% BAP's ego at play. FL was also the choice of the previous administration ... and we know how ego driven Presidents love to put their own stamp on their administration of the club.

Interesting move potentially shaping up here. Mahamadou Souaré heading towards Red Bull Bragantino sounds like a fairly logical step in his career — a club that develops young talent and gives them real minutes in a competitive league.

From a transfer perspective, it makes sense for all parties: the player gets a platform to grow, and the club benefits from a relatively low-risk acquisition with upside. It’s also another example of how South American and European pathways are becoming increasingly interconnected.

Amid all this coaching news, the transfer window closed last night. There is still a period for domestic transfers, but the next transfer window for overseas players starts in June.

Tite is predictably fired after Cruzeiro could only manage a draw at home vs Vasco being a man up. Vasco went a man down at 2 x 2 and actually took the lead before Cruzeiro leveling in injury time.
