Another transfer window is closing today. Here's an article about how some big name Brazilian players rejected approaches from Saudi Arabia to make sure they stay on the radar for the World Cup: https://www.uol.com.br/esporte/fute...em-nao-e-esfriam-janela-da-arabia-saudita.htm
If this Gérson to Palmeiras rumor pans out, it will be wild: https://www.uol.com.br/esporte/fute...iras-abre-conversas-com-estafe-do-jogador.htm Regardless, Gérson regretting this move so quickly is hilarious. His dad really screwed him over.
I follow a channel that covers Palmeiras and he theorized a few weeks ago that this was a strong possibility (Gerson to Palmeiras). I thought that was a bit crazy but Gerson was already unhappy and Zenit are apparently interested in a Palmeiras youth player. Zenit brought Gerson because Wendell was supposed to be on his way out .. but he decided to stay and apparently came back from off season in good form. Plus they have another guy who plays the same position who has also been doing well while Gerson was injured.
Gabigol officially at Santos. Palmeiras sign Marlon Freitas from Botafogo. Less than 2 months after he was professing his love for Botafogo.
Looks like Flamengo have failed to sign Kaio Jorge from Cruzeiro. Crazy amount of money offered for a player of his stature. But Flamengo has the money to spend. Botafogo are also on a 3 window transfer ban. Textor picaretagem caught up with him finally.
Flamengo confirmed the signing of Vitão, from Inter. He'll be a backup to Leo Pereira and Leo Ortiz, but unlike the youth players that Filipe Luís didn't seem to trust, I expect he'll get a lot more playing time, along with Danilo. And at 25 he could still go to Europe in the future or be a long-term starter for Flamengo.
So it looks like the Gérson to Cruzeiro move is complete: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/times/...epende-da-assinatura-para-ser-anunciado.ghtml Well, his father almost killed his career with the move to Russia, but it turns out he had such a hard time adjusting that Zenit were willing to let him go. So his dad gets even more money now with a 30 million Euro move back to Brazil. I might put my money on Gérson moving to Saudi Arabia next, maybe even after the World Cup if he gets back to the national team and wants to cash in.
Not Brazilian league, but relevant to the seleção: Looks like Bento is moving to Genoa and will be the starter. I'm not as enthusiastic about Bento as I was in the past, but at least now, if he continues to get called up (as I think he will), he will be playing regularly.
Andrew, goalkeeper at Gil Vicente that was called up by the Olympic team (but not released by his club) was approached by Botafogo, but Flamengo moved in and got him as the backup for Rossi. He's a solid keeper, on a small team in Portugal that is punching above their weight right now. He has plenty of potential, but Flamengo tends to burn goalkeepers... I hope he breaks that pattern and continues to get better and better. At only 24 he's a potential 2030 World Cup goalkeeper. EDIT: Article about the transfer https://ge.globo.com/futebol/times/...efferson-e-acumulou-premios-em-portugal.ghtml
There have been a lot of updates about Paquetá lately. What is certain is that Flamengo wants him. He wants to go to Flamengo, and West Ham are willing to part with him at some point, but not yet. The latest from globo is that financial terms are agreed, but West Ham still wants him until the end of the season. https://ge.globo.com/futebol/times/...echar-valor-da-transferencia-de-paqueta.ghtml So, it seems certain Paquetá will join Flamengo, whether in this transfer window (which closes March 2 for Brazil) or mid-season. I do think there will be some progress on this before the Brazilian window closes. I don't think Paquetá needs to move to make the World Cup, but I do think that if he moves now, he will be in a better environment and that will benefit his performances for the national team as well.
