Reportedly PSG have signed Beraldo. Several clubs were interested. São Paulo will be getting 20 million Euros and a potential 5 more in bonuses. Athletico Paranaense have apparently made an offer for Domenec Torrent, the former Guardiola assistant who coached Flamengo. Even though he didn't do great in Turkey after leaving Flamengo, it's a really interesting appointment.
Looks like Santos are going to hire Carille for 2024. They tried Thiago Caprini who did a great job getting Juventude back to Serie A but were rejected.
Palmeiras sign forward Bruno Rodrigues from Cruzeiro. He seemed to have a good start of the year but symbolically, we sign a forward who was part of the worse attack in the Brasileirão. He used to play alongside Breno Lopes at Joinville in the 3rd division back in 2017. I don't know how good he is and if it will work out ... but this is so damn underwhelming. Oh well. The window is open, but I've given up waiting for an actual big impact signing.
Santos announced that they had an agreement with the Japanese club Carille was at in terms of his contract termination clause and the club said they haven't heard a word from Santos. There is a fee to be paid for contract termination. The whole thing stinks.
Scarpa's European experiment is over. Not. Forest has accepted a $5m bid from Atlético. Flamengo were also interested. There were debates between Palmeiras fans to bring him back or not since he was instrumental to the 2022 league title. But for the club, it just felt wrong for him to leave on a free after offering him wages equivalent or higher than Not. Forest and now, just a year later, having to buy him for $5m. Another former Palmeiras player going to a rival as Viña is signing with Flamengo. Flamengo also getting De La Cruz and defender Leo Ortiz from BRB. Palmeiras is close to closing a deal for Caio Alexandre from Fortaleza.
Gabigol supposedly has asked for 50% raise. Sounds like he wants to leave but wants to make it look like it was Flamengo that didn't want him ? Corinthians President says he is meeting Marcos Braz to talk about Gabigol. Don't think Corinthians has many players to offer in a player + $ swap. The one player I think Flamengo would love having is Cassio.
https://ge.globo.com/futebol/times/...m-o-flamengo-e-ja-avalia-outras-ofertas.ghtml Today is the last day of Everton Ribeiro's contract with Flamengo. He wanted to stay, but there are other offers and no agreement yet. In other recent news, PSG confirmed the purchases of Moscardo (Corinthians) and Beraldo (São Paulo). Two big prospects for the national team in the future (and probably would have been in the pré-olímpico if they weren't moving to Europe in January). Reportedly Palmeiras have made an offer for Marcos Leonardo. Seems like a very good move for Palmeiras, but also raises questions about why he isn't getting offers from Europe. Is there some big red flag around him? He had a good year, good performances for the U20, but I haven't heard recent rumors about European teams that might want him. Of course, the transfer window in Brazil is open until early March, and in Europe until the end of January, so there will be a lot more to come before the Brasileirão.
Well, with January 1st come some updates. Bahia reportedly made an offer for Everton Ribeiro that is 30% higher than Flamengo's offer for him to stay. There are reports of Benfica looking into Marcos Leonardo. On the one hand, Arthur Cabral seems to have been a disappointment, on the other, officially they are sticking with him. I would like to see Marcos Leonardo there, personally. Moscardo went through the medical for PSG and a tumor was detected in his foot, but fortunately it won't be an issue, He'll have surgery to remove it and be ready to join them in the Summer.
Everton Ribeiro and Marcos Leonardo moves are confirmed. Nino reportedly is moving to Zenit. A disappointing move for one of the league's best center-backs. Meanwhile Robert Renan is moving to Inter-RS on loan. Beraldo, who just moved to PSG, already played today in the French Supercup. He came on as a sub with 20 minutes left. Vitor Roque has reportedly been registered and will be available for Barcelona as early as tomorrow.
Another transfer I wanted to mention is Santos (Flamengo GK) to Fortaleza. Like Hugo Souza, he kind of got burnt by Flamengo too quickly but he's not as bad as Flamengo fans think he is. A good signing for Fortaleza, I think.
Corinthians have given up on Gabigol. So it looks like he is staying. Not sure if there is a renewal though or he is just gonna run the contract off.
Earlier this week it was reported Botafogo was getting a new keeper, John, from Santos. It was expected Lucas Perri (and Adryelson) would move to Lyon and sure enough, those two moves were confirmed today. Disappointingly low transfer fees though, but Botafogo does still get 50% of future transfers (edit: 50% of the profit form future transfers).
Fluminense confirmed the expected transfer of Renato Augusto. Hopefully he can be productive for some good minutes, this is a bit of a gamble of course, but a great player for Diniz. Luiz Henrique, who is currently at Betis, is also wanted by Fluminense (as well as Flamengo) but they are asking for about 95 million reais.
Everton Ribeiro officially signs with Bahia. They are also near signing Caio Alexandre from Fortaleza which Palmeiras were trying to get. Bahia going strong in the transfer window.
This is not transfer window related news but Corinthians is nearing a deal with one of those betting houses for jersey master sponsor for R$120m per year for 3 years which would make it the biggest deal in Brazil. At Flamengo Pixbet is moving from minor sponsor to master sponsor for R$85m a season for 2 years. But with Adidas (R$65m a year I think) and the other minor sponsors added up Flamengo generates R$230m + a year. And Leila ... oh Leila ... pays R$80m for EXCLUSIVE sponsorship on the Palmeiras jersey (and EVERYWHERE else around the club including social media) + R$25m from Puma. So we get R$105m while Flamengo and Corinthians are killing us now. Crefisa's sponsorship is up this year and this is a big topic of discussion among fans calling out the obvious conflict of interest her being the President. It's gonna become even hotter this year when election comes which she will easily win at this point ... but this will be questioned. We don't have as many fans as both clubs, but we can't be so far behind Flamengo and Corinthians. On a side note, the money these betting houses are putting into these deals is pretty crazy. Just shows how much money they are raking in. Personally I don't like the whole industry and neither them being sponsors. But that's the name of the game right now. It seems like no other industry in Brazil is willing to pour that much money in football. I do wonder however how long the money they are throwing around will last.
Thiago Carpini from Juventude is the new São Paulo coach. He had turned down to a Santos approach last month. I don't know anything about him but I've seen a couple of mentions of his name in the media about someone who has done a good job at Juventude bringing them back on the Serie A after a 13 year absence.
This Corinthians Vaidebet sponsor smells fishy. I am familiar with a few other betting house names (Pixbet, Sportbet.io, Betano, Betfair, etc...) but never heard of Vaidebet before. I wouldn't be surprised if they fail to make their sponsorship payment sometime down the road.
Leila has scheduled a press conf. on Monday with some surprise news. 3 months ago she said that if someone shows her a sponsorship deal bigger than hers she would match it. So it could be something regarding an up in the renewal or opening up the jersey for ore sponsors. Although it could also be an announcement about her buying the club a new upgraded bus.
I'm right there with you on this. A sudden leap to biggest sponsorship value, from an unregulated industry (or only just recently regulated) and a new/unknown company on top of that. I wonder how much due diligence clubs due on deals like this, I can't imagine it's much. Maybe she'll just say she sold the plane back and think people will like that since they just made fun of it! It's just so funny to me that what should be a "who are we going to sign" kind of moment for fans like you is more likely about her and the company than about signings. In other news, the Gabriel Moscardo transfer is uncertain now with his upcoming surgery. Articles have come out saying PSG won't close the deal and more recently that it's still possible. The state championships start in a week or so! But of course transfers will continue through March.
A couple of players leaving Flamengo: Thiago Maia is close to signing with Internacional. Matheuszinho reached an agreement with Corinthians and will be doing a medical soon. I'm a little surprised Maia is leaving. I wonder if Tite is going to look for another defensive midfielder for depth. With Matheuszinho out, Flamengo still has Wesley and Varela at right-back.
The big news from Leila is that Abel has renewed until 2025. There was some expectation that might happen given he could have ambitions of playing in the new club world cup in 2025. It was a long press conf. where she did the usual exaggerated self promotion / me me me ... somehow she keeps repeating there is no conflict of interest because well ... she says so. Apparently because she doesn't get paid money from the club there is no conflict ... With regards to sponsorship money she did take swipes at Corinthians (without naming them) questioning if their sponsorship deal is going to be paid. That should create a topic for the news cycle. Only women were invited to this press conf. and she made a big deal out of it. Not something I am crazy about. I'd say just let in more women on a regular basis. Many questions were good but quite a bit of the press conf was concentrated on women in football issues and its machista culture instead of topics about the club. Again not crazy about it but I guess it's a symbolic gesture.
Renan Lodi is moving once again, this time to Saudi Arabia, probably removing himself from the national team conversation, unless Dorival really feels he's the solution for the left side: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/futebo...hilal-anuncia-contratacao-de-renan-lodi.ghtml
