OK, Put it all here. The first game is being played in SP and the second in Recife.

Squad to be announced on 23rd August.

I make one prediction - Rafael of Manchester United won't be included.

07/09/2012 Brazil vs South Africa ( South Africa x Brazil )
    10/09/2012 Brazil vs China ( Brazil x China )

I will make a predication as well. Brazil will not lose either game. Is this really the best we could assemble for a friendly fixture. I rather play south american opposition.

You mean the teams that are unavailable because they're playing World Cup qualifiers? And the one SA team that's off is not always going to want to play Brazil, they'll want a rest or a particular kind of prep for their next match.

This is part and parcel of being host. Other teams are qualifying and you scrounge up some friendlies. There will be times when we could have gotten better teams but it's not like a ton of them are out there (as Denilson pointed out in the general thread recently).

    He should not ...

The main issue is WHO will be in middle park to make fluided possession? I still envie of KAKA being called back ...

Dunno about Kaka. He will be 32 in 2014 world cup and isn't a starter for his club, both hints that should go with someone younger.

And I'm for calling back Robinho.
Still don't understand why he is cut.

Too right. The Modern Day Joy of the People should be included in the squad.

I did not mean Kaka will be there at WC14. His experiences and skills would be a great asset for the young team now (for Ganso, Oscar Lucas .... to learn from) until 13 or so ...

He's not a starter because of Mourinho style ... not becuase he is worse than any Ozil Di Maria Benzama ... or so ... His STATS look just great as a big sub though (many assists come off from 70 minutes) I hope Milan would get him back ... but it does not seem so !

No reason to spend valuable Brazil national team playing spot to someone we ain't gonna use in 2014 imo. Better make the 2014 players play together as much as possible.

Nah, he isn't a starter precisely because he isn't that good nowadays. I mean sure he is ok, but nothing more. Stats? Last season in Liga: 27 matches, 5 goals, 9 assists. Not too impressive imo for someone who plays in a team that is so strong and in such attacking position.

I think Robinho could feature as a reserve given his experience. On the other hand, we are stacked at the wing position.

Mostly a good list. Annoyed there's no Rafael (goalie), Hernanes, or Willian.

I wave the white flag on Mano.

I liked Cassio when he played for the U-20's and in the Libertadores. Jefferson has seen a dip in form. Where is Diego Cavalieri? He's been in sparkling form for Fluminense for several months.

Romulo? I was hoping he'd be gone after the Olympics. Sandro, Romulo and Paulinho? I'm not comfortable with those DMs. I wonder if he left Lucas Leiva out because he just returned from injury. What about Luiz Gustavo? Sandro's play in the Olympics didn't justify a call up and Romulo very much less so.

    Not a fan of Jonas.

I thought I was in the minority about Robinho. I think he'd be the ideal reserve for Neymar. I wish we'd get away from playing 3 at the top..

I think Luiz Gustavo will eventually find his way to the team. As long as he plays well, no excuse why a starter for a top 5 European club should not be on the team.

    Agree about Sandro.

I don't think Jonas ever got a fair chance for us, and he's had a good preseason for Valencia. Looks to have finally settled down at the club.

First Kaka was injured and came back just to see games ... as Ozil did well. Secondly, you have to substract all the subs games out ... as it's unfair for him.

Now let's compare the two playmakers at Real last season 11/12 http://soccernet.espn.go.com/player/_/id/21364/kaka?cc=5901
    - Kaka 27games (starts) 8goals + 14ass
    - Ozil ..55games (starts) 14goals+27ass

Kaka achieved exact 50% of Ozil in 50% of chances - if we ignore the injuries and the fact Ozil played more and got sync well with the team!

Aaaaah ... James and his stats. I am a Kaka' fan but all you have to do is watch him play' and you can easily he is not the same player he once was. He lost the pace and step that made him dangerous.. And I don't think he can gain it back. Not to mention that he doesn't fit Mano's style.

Of course he was not ... anymore ... otherwise ... how could Ozil be comparable to Kaka at his best

Anyhow, Kaka is still valuable and better than Ganso, Oscar ... right now

Let us see how Kaka performs now that the league has started up again, and if Kaka does perform well, I am also all for calling Kaka back, and Robinho. We need experience on this team. We can't go into the World Cup with all U23 youngsters.
