Pitch invaders need to start getting punished harshly. And it needs to be made public. This is frankly ridiculous.
I liked Andreas cameo but there were times he just kept bombing forward when he shouldn't have been. Def looks like a good option off the bench when we're chasing a lead though.
At some point he needs to start scoring his chances with us. His scoring record is pathetic. There goes another chance wasted by him ...
Mexico ties it on a corner. Alisson makes a save but the same guy gets the rebound and scores near post.
Holy shit... Endrick with the winner, a header on a nice cross from Vini. What a ********ing story he continues to be.
Nice to win, to at least not get too much pressure. The performance itself deserves criticism, but you add a last minute tie, it would feel like a loss and be too the focus of our press and reactions. Instead, let's enjoy the win but talk about what needs to approve. Space between midfield and attack (I'm not liking the 4-3-3) and vulnerability on defense in transition. I don't think that's news to Dorival, but it is why he needs time with the team to hopefully fix these things.
I think people make too much of that kind of stuff. There's very little reason not to show your cards in friendlies. Maybe some free kick routine, maybe some specific set play you hold back on, but the value of practicing what you want to do is higher than the danger of the opponent neutralizing you entirely based on watching that match, I think.
Globo and UOL had similar ratings for most of the players: https://ge.globo.com/futebol/seleca...e-andreas-aproveitam-bem-a-oportunidade.ghtml https://www.uol.com.br/esporte/fute...itoria-da-selecao-veja-notas-da-footstats.htm Globo's are subjective, while UOL used footstats, so I think they're just stat based. One thing that stood out for me though is that Brazilians gave Ederson an 8.0... I wonder how much of that is because he's not well known and therefore not hated enough to get fans voting against him (which I think is pretty clearly happening in Joao Gomes' rating, since he was on the field for very little time).
Dorival's post-match press conference: Overall, I'd highlight how much he talks about the ultimate objective being the World Cup.
Vini has to up his goal scoring for the nt. Endrick already tied him and Martinelli is 1 away from tying him.
I only caught highlights, and much of the press (based on what I've seen, non-Brazilian more than Brazilian) has focused on how this "Mexico A" could do no more than draw this "Brazil B." I'm not sure it was "Brazil B," although Dorival did deploy a starting XI (minus Alisson) with bench players. The interesting part about this friendly double-header is that Brazil will be facing CONCACAF teams whose immediately preceding matches saw routs at the hands of CONMEBOL teams: Mexico got goaleado by Uruguay 4-0, and Colombia defeated the United States by 5-1. Mexico faced Uruguay with reserves and paid the price, their manager put up the best he has to start the match and the defeat was not as lopsided as it was against Uruguay. But can Team USA do much better against us than against Colombia? Gregg Berhalter will certainly tell his players they cannot afford to repeat the careless play which gifted Colombia late goals. I would not be surprised if Brazil does not score 4 or 5 goals against the U.S., but what does matter at this point is improvement in team chemistry. 90 minutes is plenty of time for anything to happen, but based on Brazil's three matches under Dorival, I do not forecast Brazil losing to the U.S.
As usual the training coverage only lasts about 15 minutes. Sometimes that's not enough to see any activity besides warmups and "altinhas", but if you go to the 1h25min mark in the video above you will see that Dorival started training today with some pressing drills for 3 sets of 4 players. The first group was Danilo, Marquinhos, Beraldo, Wendell The second group was João Gomes, Bruno Guimarães, Endrick, Pepê The third group was Vini Jr., Raphinha, Rodrygo, Paquetá The expected starting line-up is: Alisson (or Bento); Danilo, Marquinhos, Beraldo, Wendell; João Gomes, Bruno Guimarães, Paquetá; Raphinha, Rodrygo, Vini Jr. Endrick is expected to get minutes as a sub and is being treated as the 12th mane right now (always expected to come in). If the exercise above is any indication, Pepê is also likely to get significant minutes in the second half.
I saw somewhere that the above was the XI expected but Bento would start instead of Alisson. The back 4 sucks but realistically speaking, only Beraldo stands out as a "wtf" option. Arana and Couto were never going to start over Danilo and Wendell. I think Gabriel is injured or just coming back from injury and I suspect Eder might have to win his spot back and/or they're going slow because of his injury. You guys know I'm not at all a Marquinhos fan but it is what it is at this point. Bremer would never get the start.
