OK, let me calm down a bit.

We are all emotionally upset that a game which was in the bag slipped away - but, is this really a crisis?

4 years ago at this time we were far worse off. It's better to have some humbling results now if it pays off in the future. We would not want to have these kind of performances when the World Cup is on the line.

Parreira himself can't be blamed for it all. He took out Roque Junior; Marcos apparently failed in the first Japanese goal; and, the front players developed several chances. If they couldn't finish, it's not his fault.

Game over. Germany next in the semifinals. There's nothing to say we cannot defeat them - although I expect them to be more of a challenge than either Mexico or Japan.

I can't see any Brazilian players having the desire to score in the second half. What did Perreira do in that half? fill the team with defensive players but the team neither can defense better, nor can hold more possession of the ball. All the players just wait for the final whizzle to come as early as possible, that's all......They are not playing football in the second half! (except Lucio and the hard-working Cicinho)

    i liked robinho
    very good
and cicinho is starting to play well for the selecao
    lucio was better today
ronaldinho finally played pretty decent, got a little better

but brazil fell asleep in the second half
we were good in the beginning of the first but then.....horrible

The team is clearly unorganized in the field, making alot of misakes and trying to make every play through the middle. Parreira's tactics have become predictable and every team has figuered us out. If the team continues to play like this, it would be best to just have lost today and limit the embarassment to 2 games.

On a side note i tought Leo was really bad, he lost almost every ball he tried to attack with and had that ridiculous fight in the end wich should have got him a red card. Marcos was also really out of it today.

Funny... the last time Brasil played Japan, it ended in a 0-0 draw in Japan in the last Confederation's Cup. Remember that side? They went on to lose to France in the very next round, and they struggled woefully to score goals. Also in that Cup, Brasil tied with Canada.

What? I thought Canada has only beat us once back in 94 by 1-1. :D

You're talking about Leão's experiment. After the tournament he was fired by phone when at the Los Angeles airport, in his way back to Brazil.

Look at the following players that played in the 0-0 against Canada:
    Goal Keepers
    Dida
    Carlos Germano
    Fabio Costa

    Defenders
    Ze Maria
    Lucio
    Edmilson
    Evanilson
    Cesar Belli
    Claudio Cacapa
    Leo
    Cesar

    Midfielders
    Leomar
    Vampeta
    Ze Roberto
    Fabio Rochembach
    Julio Baptista
    Ramon
    Robert

    Forwards
    S. Anderson
    Vagner
    Washington
    Magno Alves
    Leandro

Only four players made it to next year's WC (2002). I guess the current situation is not that dire. The nucleus has already been formed for WC 2006. Things that are required now are practicing diligently the fab-four formations, adequate rest and HUMILITY! We don't want a repeat of 1938, 1950 or 1998.

Ha! I didn't think anyone remembered the days of Canuck Power.

wow - I'd forgotten that. I was wrong though - Brasil didn't just lose to France, the Selecao also lost to Australia . Let's have a look at that old roster vs. Japan for old time's sake. :D

    Dida
    Zé Maria
    Lúcio
    Edmilson
    Léo
    Ramon
    Léomar
    Carlos Miguel
    Fabio Rochemback
    Washington
    Leandro Amaral
    Júlio Baptista 63' < > Ramon
    Robert 73' < > Leandro Amaral
    Magno Alves 80' < > Washington

Magno Alves, Washington, Ramon, Amaral.... yes, he should have been fired.

It was a good thing for his professional life. He's matured since then and now is a better coach.

Robinho flashes the sign of victory, says AP. WRONG! He flashes the sign of VIVO, his new sponsor. Using the yellow jersey to make easy money. Ridiculous!

Oh man, that was close, Zico almost ended Parreira's reign in the National Team. Pity.

Japan's Brazilian coach, Zico, couldn't hide his displeasure at a third-minute goal by Akira Kaji, which was ruled offside. The Wednesday game wound up a 2-2 draw, but Zico - and TV replays seemed to confirm it - said it should have counted.

"I'm very happy with the performance of the team, but angry at the way we are out of the Confederations Cup," Zico said. "It was a legal goal - and only a goal makes a difference."

Essa selecao esta jogando com um belo salto alto !!! Mas eu nao achei que no primeiro tempo a defesa deixou mutio espaco para o Japao como os comentaristas falaram. Mas de novo a selecao parecia em segunda marcha. Muito tranquila.

adriano was really dissapointing. After these performances, I now see the merit of those who would rather have Ronaldo start ahead of him. Ronaldo's style seems more suited to the squad's play.

You guys are all getting wound up over nothing..

First of all, none of these games mean anything..

Second, if there is any team out there that learns from its mistakes it is Brazil..

So I have no doubt these losses only make for a stronger Brazil (unforunately :D )

    don't sweat it..

but don't get your hopes up too high.. 2006 is Germany's Cup...

But for Argentina's sake.. I hope they keep Pareira

I see your point, but from a Brazilian point of view things may be a bit different. Seleção is not a buffet from which one may choose one game but decline another. When this type of attitude is displayed Brazilians call it salto alto. If one player does not want to be there, just has to ask.

The question is: do people know how much the yellow jersey adds to the market value of a player? For me it is not reason enough to be there, but...

I would just like to say....I really really enjoyed the brasil - Japan Game....very very entertainning....I love Robinho, the way he moved in behind ronaldinho to score the goal was brilliant...knowing kaka was on the opposite side he made wonderful use of open space....brasil, you better take care of that Robinho.....cause if you don't! i will kidnapp him and bring him to Portugal to OUR selecao and make him put on the green, red and yellow....!

as for Japan, i was really impressed with them, they showed that they are very good at controlling the ball as well, made some very nice moves. Thier passing was also good, and they were pretty athletic as well....I loved they way they played, constantly attacking brasil the way brasil was attacking them.....They even had a chance to win the game at the end!

Anyways...From a friend from portugal...i congradulate Brasil on advancing past the group stage.

P.S : OBRIGADO POR KNOCKING THE MERDA out of Grecia!!! MUITO OBRIGADO!!!!
