Carlos Alberto and Mario Zagalo will be visiting Kuwait 23 years after they left Kuwait as the Asian champions, but this time as the managers of the world champions. Upon request of Mr. Marzouq Al-Ghanim (Head of Kuwait Sports Club), Brazilian FA has agreed to send the Brazil NT (with all their star players) to play a friendly against Kuwait SC on the 15th Nov. 2005. Brazil NT is going to play an international friendly against the UAE in Abu Dhabi on the 12th Nov. 2005, and has a scheduled (not confimed) match against Oman on the 16th Nov. 2005. ___ Brazil needs to revise their defensive tactics as Kuwait SC is going to be all over them
I hope that Iran can schedule a match against Brazil. I think Iran would benefit greatly with a match against Brazil, and no offense to other Persian gulf countries but I think Iran will give Brazil the best test. Iran is just a step better then everyone else except for perhaps KSA who is right with us. I'm just being honest and I am not trying to rub it in.
I guess Brazilian FA accepted these invitations because of Carlos Alberto who coached in Kuwait in the late 70s and early 80 and UAE NT in mid 80s. I can't see why Brazil would play against uncomptetive teams, and as you said playing Iran and KSA is more beneficial for both sides, especially that these teams may meet when it matters most.
I don't see any team in the region that can compete with Brazil including I-raaan & Saudi. The purpose of this visit is to tour countries that Brazil never been to. Just like a celebrity or a rock band visit a country to sing for fans. I think people are dying to see the Brazilian team play in their country beside they are getting big $$$. This obviously not WC preparation.
We might see today, since the Saudi FA will be making a meeting today about the NT for WC. Carlos also coached Saudi Arabia in 98.
Awesome!!!!!!!! I am definitely going! LOL! Yeah... I wonder how Brazil are going to cope though with those slick skills of the UAE team . If they pack the defense and take advantages on the counter, they may sneak a draw.
This is a roadshow. I wouldn't want Saudi paying Brazil huge sums of money for that kind of game. I'd rather play a team inferior to Brazil but take it as serious preparation. That's my opinion.
Er...as a Brazilian.... I would cheer up UAE You know,IMO we could play KSA or Iran, why not? It's good too see how Asian NT improved and make a different view here.We usually don't care about African and Asian NT or teams, like they are common crap. And that's wrong, without doubt.
actuallythe oman game is confirmed if brazl want atest they play saudi, iran etc.. not oman an duae comeon
Juma Rabie has been called again to stand in until the FA finds a new coach. The league will be stopped for a month so the NT can prepare for this match, which tickets will burn a hole in your pocket. In 2007 we will be hosting the (Persian)Gulf Cup we need much more friendlies if we hope to hold the title. But still Brazil-UAE will be way better than a Saudi-Brazil or Iran-Brazil.
Ilbaasha/Emirati, You guys don't have any links to any news reports about this do you? Also, any info on how/ where you can get tickets for the game in Abu Dhabi? Entry to matches are usually free here - don't know if they'll be charging this time. Cheers
I know about the Kuwait SC v Brazil match, tickets cost between KD10-30 (about 100-300 Dirhams). you can buy them from here SS2006, so when is Oman v Brazil and where? thanks
man you guys are soo lucky.. good luck against the Brazilians, i wouldnt be suprised if you guys gave them a tough game
I really doubt it hanul21... it will be good to see alot of goals... and I am quite sure they will be going on one end in the first half and the other in the second half Saudi64, our local league games cost around the same as in Saudi... between 1-3 KD... but I guess because it is Brazil playing, Marzouq Al-Ghanim is trying to make a profit. He's also hiring Kuwait TV sports channel to cover the event... so another source of income for him and for the club.
I also read this on the net: Barcelona and Bayern may play in Dubai By Sayed Ali, Staff Reporter Dubai : Top European soccer clubs including Barcelona FC, Bayern Munich and Porto, are likely to play in a tournament in Dubai next year that will also feature the UAE national team. Khalid Bin Faris, member of the UAE Football Association board of directors and Chairman of the technical committee, confirmed that the FA have given the green signal for a tournament to be organised on January 3-13, 2006 as the Dubai International Football Tournament. Bin Faris was responding to a report in a Arabic newspaper which announced the tournament. "Asian Sports Marketing came to us with a proposal to organise the tournament in January 2006 with the UAE national team taking part," said Bin Faris. "They offered to bring world class clubs like Barcelona, Bayern Munich, River Plate Porto and clubs from Japan, Italy and England. According to reports, the winner will receive one million Euros (Dh 4,840,000) as prize money. Bin Faris said that the tournament will be a good chance for UAE players to play against world class clubs. "I think our players will benefit greatly from participating in such a strong tournament with all these great clubs taking part," he commented. "This is in line with our plans to prepare the national team in a very good way for the coming obligations and the 18th Gulf Cup which we will host in January 2007." According to the report, eight teams will play in the tournament. They will be divided into two groups and each group will play a round robin league with the group winner qualifying for the final. Bin Faris said that the meeting of the FA technical committee which was scheduled to be held yesterday was postponed and the FA board of directors will meet on Sunday. "We will take part in the Kirin Cup in Japan we have to decide on the coach."
