    Ladies and Gentleman, I proclaim to you that Bruce Arena has again identified two young talents who have the mark of true promise! Especially so for the U.S. team playing style.

    Both are called into the Senior National Team for the USA by Coach Bruce Arena. Please remember Players Alecko Eskandarian & Brian Ching, Arena again discovers real Talent.

    Soccer Watchers know hese two forwards have true talent and physical abilities to be consistantly dangerous going at International defensive backlines.

    This is not your "Joe Max Moore's" U.S. Team Strikers(all due respect to Joe!). These two kids have talent along the lines of Clint Mathis and Landon Donovan. True Football Strikers.

    The fit with the National Team remains to be seen. We will need to discover if Mathis, Donovan, Eskandarian and Ching will mesh at a high level. More over is there room for this four man crew on the field at the same time? Though be advised the new boys will be much better in 1-2 years time in the U.S. line up.

    **Savor this moment, Remember this day against Wales, May 26 2003.** Ching, Eskandarian, Donovan, Mathis these four players can make an awsome crew. Bravo U.S.A

    The U.S. has strong midfield contributors defending and feeding the attack.(Beasely, Mastreoni, Armas, Oslen, Reyna,Obrien,Convey, Mulrooney, and a Martino coming up)
    However the U.S. team has had only a mere nibbling of good strikers in Brian McBride and Josh Wolfe. Otherwise no strikers of serious note to do much against international defenses.

    Bravo U.S.A, keep on going! You will get there.

    I agree with you, but keep wondering if you're Giorgio Chinaglia.

    I agree as well. I'm not at all worried about the future of American soccer because there are loads and loads of good young players coming into MLS. Think of players like Craig Capano, Eddie Gaven, Memo Gonzalez, Justin Mapp, etc. There are so many and there are more to come. Good times for U.S. soccer.

    Let's see if they can actually make an impact in a professional game first before annointing them as future stars shall we?

    Sorry, Pesky and Ching will never be major contributors to the NATS.....not with the talent we have at forward.

    Are you on crack? Have you watched Ching play? He has 3 goals this season. One was a header that Llamosa scored, the others were nothing special. Not exactly Nats material. It is amazing that these guys get a look while Twellman gets maybe 10 minutes a game.

    One was NOT the one Llamosa scored. Ching helped to force that one, and then scored another one later in the game.

    Twellman will get his chance. The only reason Ching is getting his chance this week is because of the scheduling factor. It's a very weird friendly - a stuupid friendly - but we'll see how some of these players do.

    So you're saying they'll pull a Pope and sit around in the MLS raking in some cash but never fully putting their skills to the test at the club level? ;)

    Behold CJ Brown and Jeff Agoos upon the playing field. For unto you is granted a national team coach who shall be known as Genius.

    Unless Portugal had scored vs. Korea, in which case he would now be regarded as Sampson II.

    The line between genius and idiocy is fine indeed.

    Although to be fair in this case, his options are a bit limited with only 2 MLS teams in play. And Goose, well that is a farewell honor, and given the guy's U.S. service and the meaninglessness of this game, I don't begrudge Arena the gesture.

    As mentioned before he was not credited with the own goal that he pressed Llamosa into. You also forgot the gamewinning PK he drew against the Galaxy. So 3 goals hes actually scored, 1 he created and another goal that was basicly given to Donovan. He sucks. :rolleyes:

    Wish Edson Buddle were healthy, I rate him way higher than Alecko or Ching.

    Twellman needs more of a chance, he deserves another look...he is the league leader in goals again.

    Let's get a list of forwards who started in MLS who can play for US:

    New England--Moore & Twellman;
    New York--Magee & Mathis;
    Columbus--McBride, Cunningham, & Buddle;
    Chicago--Razov;
    Dallas--Kreis, Johnson, & Rhine;
    DC--Quaranta & Eskandarian;
    KC--Wolff & Brown;
    Colorado--Schmit & Carrieri;
    LA--None;
    San Jose--Donovan & Ching;

    Injured--Wolff & Buddle;
    Old, known package--Moore;

    Only McBride and Ching are good target forward and who are in scoring top right now.

    Eskandarian has great talent as Magee.

    This also is going to far. Especially about Eskandarian who has loads of talent and scored in bunches with our youth teams. Let's give these guys a chance, and then we can argue whether they are International level or not

    I am looking forward to seeing Ching play simply because I have never seen him play before. He is a striker so the bottom line is to see if he gets a lot of chances to score, and then if he can score.

    Chances to score are the main thing for me to see in this game.
    ------------
    Pretty soon when he shows he can score in the flow of play Richardo Clark will get his turn. He does a lot of things well now, and when he gets his start he should do pretty well because his overall game is surprisingly good.
    --------------------
    On Twellman I won't judge him now, but my first impressions of him is good in MLS and nothing with the national team at least so far. I hope he is not cut out from the same cloth like Jason Kreis.
    ----------------------

    Magee He has not showed much at all. He might not even be MLS material.
    ------------
    Mathis- he does enough things now to be in Germany, but as of now still isn't the preinjury Mathis. I miss when he had the entire over all game.
    ---------------------
    McBride he is goign to Germany

    Cunningham should be going to Germany. His quickness comming off the bench will help the national team.

    Buddle I have not seen him enough in MLS play as yet.

    Razov there is a lot of things as a striker he either can't or won't do.

    Kreis good in MLS and not much with the national team. I want to see new people. Not the same ones over and over. Jovan kiroski fits that mold as well.

    Johson have not seen him

    Rhine- Have not seen him or just don't remember him.

    Quaranta last time I seen him he was not a striker, but he had a very nice game against the Metrostars. I would like to see him play more.

    Eskandarian-He did not make a big impression on me in the one game I saw him in. He did have an open shot on howard and should have scored but he shot right at Howard. So it was not a good game for him.

    Wolff goes to Germany if he can stay healthy.

    Brown ?

    Schmit can't remember.

    Carrieri talks alot, but doesn't back it up with goal production. He doesn't even start for them.

    LA--None; Nobody?

    San Jose--Donovan he starts somewhere.

    We should cap-tie Ching in case those nutjob welfare case Hawaiian nationalists somehow pull off a miracle and have Hawaii declare independence.

    That way, Ching can't play for Hawaii.

    Too lazy to use the wink smily.

    The only reason Brian Ching scores is because of Landon Donovan. If his teamates could finish he'd probably have like 15 assists. It's like John Stockton playing with a bunch of high schoolers.

    I'm not actually sure of this but Magee's 2 goals might be more than anybody else in the new crop of Prject 40. He's definatly MLs material and he has grown up int he US youth systems. Give him a chance.

    See above for Eskandarian without the goals. Give him a chance, he was the #1 pick AHEAD of Ricardo Clark. Playing for a bad DC United team. Should improve with Convey in the middle

    Tino Quaranta would be in this match except that he got hurt.

    Bottom Line-You can throw this game out the window as both teams are basically playing JV.

    Do you even know how many of Ching's goals Donovan has assisted on?
