Not correct, Transfermarkt.us, which is where people are probably looking, denominates transfers in USD, so he would indeed be Genk's third-highest transfer, according to their figures.
They're certainly confident in their abilities to flip players for profit. It's not like they're in some big city with huge support and a guarantee CL spot. If the Eredivisie/Jupiler merger ever happens, then they might go wild.
I like this move. Wish he was going to a league that is televised/streamed on the regular but going to a team that will almost certainly be playing in Europe next season is solid. Eager to see how quickly he can make his case for a starting slot.
Royale Wit' Cheese: McKenzie at Genk Philadelphians can correct the spelling of the 2nd and 3rd words, if necessary.
Genk play in a stadium in area of Belgium called Nieuw Texas. With McKenzie being from the Bronx I wanted to make a Jay and Bey reference but I didn’t have it.

Something I've always liked about McKenzie's game is how frequently he makes plays look routine -- like he just, rather quietly, always seems to put himself in the right place and make the right choice. If he shows that with his new club he might be one of those guys who, perhaps like Cannon, are being discussed for a quick move up another level.

Woah woah woah, but why? He's not an academy player. The description reads, "YA Coaches, Youth Players (and those not playing competitively for a first division second tier league (Holland, Scotland, Norway, etc.) or 2nd division first tier league (England, Spain, etc.)), Rumors (supported news/rumors about potential new YAs with link), History, and Alumni, and more!", of which he is none. He was a rumor, now he's not. Not sure I get the logic here.
Bolded the important word. As soon as he steps on the field and plays in a league game, he's kicked out of this forum- I mean promoted. It's why Konrad hasn't been promoted - he's done everything with senior Barca - he's made the bench in the league, played in non-league games, but he hasn't actually played in a league game yet. The confusion is understandable. Despite the name of the forum, it doesn't really have anything to do with being an academy player. An easier way to think of it may be that the main forum is for players who have played in a league game for a "top flight" club, which includes the top divisions everywhere abroad and the "second" divisions in the very strongest leagues, and this forum is for everyone else: coaches, academy players, 3rd division players, "top flight" squad members who never get on the pitch (eg, if Steffen hadn't appeared for Fortuna Dusseldorf, he'd have been in the academy until last week I believe). YA Left Overs doesn't have quite the same ring as YA Academy, but is prolly more accurate.
Academy sub forum never should have been made and these controversies around whether someone should be "promoted" or not are one of the lamest things on the internet. The rules are fairly clear yet it feels like we have this same conversation in every thread surrounding a young player breaking through.
I'm fairly sure they made these rules to drive traffic to this forum and to keep threads from disappearing on the main YA thread. The rules aren't hard to remember. Or when in doubt check both YA academy and YA abroad daily. You won't miss a thing nor have to go beyond the 1st page of either list of threads.
if anything there should be a cutoff for actual top clubs...first division clubs in decent leagues....and then everyone else.
Yes. This. Makes it a lot easier- otherwise youth players get buried quickly on the main forum. All rules are arbitrary and sometimes don’t make perfect sense. However, the overall effect is good- the kids are in this forum and people playing in the leagues are in the other. It’s not 100%, but it’s close enough to work pretty well.
