Added a poll! Other things to talk about with this Brasileirão: How many games will Neymar play? Who will be the first coach fired?
I think for Flamengo, Botafogo, Palmeiras it will be tough to make a run at the Brasileirão having to play in the CWC. Fluminense plays as well but I don't consider them a contender at all.
That was the best match Palmeiras played in a good while. Good win over Corinthians. It has come with Felipe Anderson playing in the place of Veiga who is injured. Abel however, keeps giving signals that Felipe will play on the left when Veiga is back.
Flamengo had a good game against Gremio away. Gremio are poor, but still a good performance. Gremio's stadium was also very empty. Not sure what's going on there.
Santos lost to Fluminense, 1x0 with a goal in the 95th minute BTW, @celito look at the top of the table! Only 2 teams on 7 points, Flamengo and Palmeiras.
Looks like Caixinha is the next coach on the chopping block. Santos is having a meeting with him today.
Confirmed, he was fired at that meeting. Extra funny to me that Dorival and Tite are the two names being floated to take over Santos now. Neymar cannot get away from coaches he has a history with.
Bruno Henrique indicted for breaching betting rules. Chats with his brother have been published of him saying when he was going to earn a yellow card.
From the messages it seems like BH was letting his brother know when he was going to receive the typical intentional yellow to be suspended for a match as directed by the team so he doesn't miss an important match. Weird thing is that after the Santos match, they were playing Fortaleza away ... not an easy fixture. In the game in question, BH actually got a red card at the end of the match. A yellow followed by 2nd yellow for berating the ref.
One of the dumbest things you could do... so while it's a surprise and comes out of nowhere, it's no surprise that it was Bruno Henrique, of all the players it could be.
A few big results already today: Palmeiras won 1x0 at Internacional Fluminense won 2x0 at Corinthians Also, São Paulo maintain their pattern of giving up draws, going ahead twice at Botafogo and ending up 2x2
Inter x Palmeiras was a bit of a defensive dog fight. The goal came from "o acaso". Nothing impressive from either team. Inter actually had a couple of good chances to score in the 2nd half. But it's definitely an important win away at Inter. Palmeiras has only ever won 4 games at Inter. Abel also didn't play through the wings crossing the ball incessantly ... which is a first in a good while.
Anyone who believes we need to account for him in building the team is absolutely delusional at this point. I mean, they were already, but this is just driving the point home even to the last holdouts, I hope.
Now it's Gremio's turn to fire their manager. After a humiliating loss to Mirassol 4 x 1, Quinteros is gone. It's basically one manager fired each round. In other managerial news, Tite, Dorival, and Sampaoli have apparently turned down the Santos job. I am guessing Gremio will go after Tite. I wonder if Tite would take the job.
Flamengo beat Juventude 6x0. Great to see a resounding win against one of the lower tier teams, instead of struggling to score. Allan looking good, at least as an option for these games, is good news for our midfield rotation. I listened on Fla TV and, at least while I listened, they never directly mentioned what Bruno Henrique was accused of, they just said it was a difficult time for him. And he came in! Weird choice by Filipe Luis. Best news of course is Pedro scoring two as a sub, involved in the match, could have had an assist, earned the PK (which he did not convert, but put the rebound in with a carrinho, showing some confidence in his recovery). Vasco x Flamengo this weekend begins a stretch of hugely important games twice a week.
Filipe Luis courageous for criticizing the whole concept of sports betting when his team (and most teams to be fair) is sponsored by Bets.
