One day you say you have too many options on the right side, the other you're playing a FB improvised as right wing with 4 FBs .... FML

    Fortaleza 1 x 0 Palmeiras

Juventude upset Flamengo 2 x 1. I had a feeling there'd be dropped points for Flamengo here.

I was optimistic about today, and Flamengo started really well, but it's a tough place to play and ended up being a big game for Rossi. Unfortunately they broke through late to get the winner.

Pedro has looked really good lately. I am expecting to see him on the national team, maybe, in the second half of the year.

Disastrous game. Abel and his stupid 4 FB setup. Caio Paulista is so bad. No clue what we were doing signing him. Not only that, but Anibal picks up a suspension for the next game against Corinthians and Murilo went out injured. Rony also picked up a suspension, but that's good news.

And Fortaleza were missing 9 starters.

Flamengo drop points away, Palmeiras drop points away and frankly get hammered from the looks of it (I was watching Inter/Galo), the schedule has been pretty thick recently so how much of it can be attributed to pure attrition? When you're playing every 3-4 days without pause, those away games have a way of becoming a lot more difficult than they otherwise would be.

Yep. Veiga and Estevão had physical problems and therefore didn't start saving them for the game on Monday vs Corinthians. Didn't leave Abel with much option. Although I would have played Rony on the left and started Flaco in the middle. Dudu is visibly out of it.

Flamengo are sorely missing their players at the Copa, primarily the Uruguayans. De la Cruz has been our best player thus far. Unless we get some magic out of Cebolinha and tap into Pedro's finishing prowess, we are unable to create very much.

Flamengo keep churning. Cruzeiro were better IMO but Flamengo with 3 more points. Seems like the aerial game from set piece has become an important tool for Tite.

São Paulo bounce back with a big win against Bahia.

And Fluminense lose again. Hopefully we can sink Corinthians tomorrow.

Your team is beginning to look like champions of this year's Campeonato Brasileiro, even though there's a lot of time left. As for São Paulo, good to see the team displaying good soccer after some setbacks.

I feel bad for Fluminense fans. Barring a miraculous turnaround which is overdue, theirs may be a team in the second division in 2025.

Cost me 3 points on cartola but was still my best player! At least I had a good week overall.

Of course, I would rather he did that while Palmeiras drop points xD

Haha - I confused you with Ombak and I meant Flamengo are looking like champions. But Palmeiras is very much a realistic contender to win it as well.

If anything, Flamengo under Tite only serves to vindicate Tite's credentials as a manager. This is his first club after leaving the national team. I'm not sure whether Flamengo will go far in the Libertadores, but Tite has won that tournament (and other mata-mata tournaments) as well.

By the way, Palmeiras with Gabigol?.... if Gabigol joins your team before the resumption of the Copa Libertadores (at this moment this appears highly unlikely, but let's say it happens).... Gabigol would be permitted to participate in the mata-mata. CONMEBOL authorizes players to play for one team during the group stage and for another in the elimination rounds. And, CBF rules state that if a player in the Série A has played 7 or more games for one club, he may not play in another club before the end of the said Série A Campeonato Brasileiro. Gabigol has played for Flamengo only 5 times; he can therefore play for your team in the remainder of the current national tournament.

I am curious and cautiously excited about some of the moves being made. Mostly about Felipe Anderson. Anxious for him to start. Then we signed FB Giay from San Lorenzo and Mauricio from Inter. Not sure about Mauricio to be honest. I've heard mixed things about him but he is young. Vitor Reis comes in yesterday and has a great game defensively (granted against Corinthians) and scores on a header. Great young prospect for CB.

Now for Gabigol ... I'd rather we find another striker. I'd actually like to sign Firmino. I think he'd fit will into the system. This one is gonna feel weird if it happens (and it looks like it might). We would have to rehab him but it seems like Abel is confident he can do it. Flamengo wants something to let him go before the end of the year but Palmeiras apparently doesn't want to pay anything. Some rumor just came out that Flamengo might be willing to let him go with Palmeiras just taking over his wages for the remainder of the contract. Cruzeiro are apparently out (they already have a couple of strikers so I guess it never made sense). I really did not see this coming.

Does Flamengo have a target striker for this transfer window to sign ? @Ombak Feels like it isn't good to have just Pedro as a striker in the roster. Unless I am missing someone.

Firmino would be a great signing for a club in Brazil.

But how could you forget Carlinhos! The forward we picked up from Volta Redonda at the end of the carioca? Seriously, I almost forgot about him. But reportedly Tite is planning on starting him against Atlético-MG. A little surprising considering he hasn't had playing time, but they do need to rest Pedro.

I wouldn't be surprised if Firmino showed up at Flamengo.

Also, Flamengo are apparently looking at a loan for Paquetá.

Yeah, I saw that news just now. Would be huge if it happens, but it seems to me Flamengo are trying to take advantage of Paquetá's potential suspension by offering West Ham something for him before he potentially gets suspended. (And I think, also offering Paquetá a more comfortable environment for him to potentially be in if that punishment does come.)

By the time I saw your post and repped you it was 3x1. Now it's 4x1 after Atl-MG had a player sent off.

Obviously I was hoping to get some points away from home, maybe even a close win, but 4x1? Yeah, Atl-MG definitely surprising in the wrong ways lately. Amazing result for us during this tough stretch.

Palmeiras held to a draw at Grêmio today. Nice goal by Estêvão to get that draw.

Bahia beat Juventude , which means that there is a 3-way tie for second-place this week, with Botafogo, Palmeiras and Bahia 3 points behind Flamengo.

Also, two of those 2nd place teams will face each other this weekend - Palmeiras x Bahia - while Flamengo host Cuiabá. Botafogo also have a tough match, hosting Atl-MG. While we talked about Atl-MG being poor, they are better away from home overall.

Fluminense meanwhile got 1 point at home against Inter, keeping them at the very bottom of the table.

Unfortunately missed this game. Disappointed we dropped points. But Estevão with another cracking goal. I really hope he fulfills his potential.
