I wonder if Gray Griffin (same height as Marshall) would have kept out Mascherano's header ...... Don't kill me if this subject has been covered. I'm a newbie. Anyway, here are the past players of Brandenton. http://www.mysoccer.com/ussf2/res0904.phtml My favourites among them ********************************* When we had 20 players camp, 1999 Class - Donovan, Beasley, Beckerman, Convey, Countess, Cronin, Onyewu, Alex Yi 2001 Class - (Gray Griffin - god bless him), Marshall, Mapp, Magee, J Stone, Ed Johnson, Capano From 30 players of 2003 Class - I am sure that no less than 10 players will come into my list. From 40 players of 2005 ? ? ? ? ? ?
I expect twelve high impact players...hopefully some super skilled defenders who don't always resort to panicked clearances..
The U20s did NONE of this in their recent tournament. Not even against Argentina. Something that surprised me so much that I repeated multiple time. But I also want those highly skilled defenders. Its something of a luxury really though. I mean without those guys you can get yourself a BMW Z3 of an offense with great midfielders, but add defenders who can attack and you suddenly have a Ferrari.
High impact as in potential first division European big four in quality--be it EPL, Bundesliga, La Liga or Serie A. 12 full nat players. Shoot for the stars...
Yeah, that'd be nice, but I don't expect that. Maybe half that. There are lots of other paths to the nats, and I don't expect us to identify a full starting 11 when the kids are 15 years old. Maybe if we eventually expand to 100 or so.
Well I'm hoping that the coaches improve their ability to scout talent at the same time. Donovan, Beasley, Convey, Onyewu, and Countess have 1st division potential IMHO. That's 5 out of 20---10 out of 40, plus I'm hoping that they squeeze in an extra 2 players in my dream world.
